Gawd, I hope this isn't a whiney ass rant, but.........blame the porch.

They came today to set up the things for the elections tomorrow at the school I work at.  I got a sample ballot and was looking over it, and realized I have not heard one good thing about any of the names I recognized.  Not even from their own ads.  It has all been "he supports child molestors", "he kicks puppies", "she points and laughs at folks who have a hairlip", so on and so forth.

For a moment I thought, I am not even going to bother voting, they all suck, but I can not NOT vote.  So, now I am thinking I will vote a straight liberatarian ballot, but honestly that feels like throwing my vote away.

And, I really don't expect any one of them to do a damn thing that will make a difference.  There was a guy on "The Regular Guys" this morning,  Gerald Celente, and among other things, he said something about politics being acting for ugly people.  That cracked me up, and then made me sad.

So, anyone else so sure about things as I am-lol?

Sounds like it might be a little late for you to become informed enough to actually cast a vote, but try going to this website and doing a little bit of research Townhall.

You might learn something.

ok thats funny,
but for Just.. vote..while I am certainy not libertarian or anything right of a commie(according to the uninformed) you gotta go with your gut.
I hope its not too hard when it comes to it.
Id vote but... sighs... it would be illegal and im not prepared to accept the consequences:)

I felt the same way in 2008. I could not vote for McCain or Obama. So I voted for Barr < Lib >. I knew it was a throw away vote, but I couldn't not vote either. I do indentify as a Libertarian, but I try to chose Reps or Dems who come closest to my Lib views.

Exercise your right to vote JAS. Democracy only works when it's citizens are active participants.

My opinion, ain't no such thing.

If sufficient people vote for someone that they'd really like to see elected, or for someone who better represents their beliefs, then that growing number of people will have an effect on the political body and landscape, even if not for that specific election.

It's a long term political strategy, but in lieu of simply not voting, it's a better strategy, because if you don't vote at all, you end up making no impact at all.

Just think ... if everyone who was as unhappy with their choices started voting, but not for any of the "main" parties, then the percentages not voting for Ds or Rs would rise to respectable numbers, and either encourage these smaller parties to expand, or get the two main parties to try to figure out how they can "collect" those stray votes in an election.

As long as you vote, it's not a "throw away".

Ill definately go vote.  Several times in the past few eyars, I have thought about just not bothering, but I can't do that.  Too many lives haave been given for me to have the priviledge of voting.

I am still thinking about who I will vote for, did a bit more research, and I will go work til I decide for sure-lol.

But dammit, we are electing a governor, and I so wish there was someone I was excited about voting for, instead of just deciding which is the lesser of the 2 evils.....

Barnes or Deal......one of those morons will be the next governor, no matter who I vote for.....sighs.

What Firm said.  If the percentage of voters go for someone other than a D or R, begins to grow, then the pols will take notice.

You just never know...look at the Liberal party in England, they were an irrelevant "wasted vote" 3rd party and now they are part of the government. A few years back the NDP (left wing socialists) got elected "by accident" in Ontario, and didn't some washed up pro wrestler get elected governor not too long ago....like I said, you just never know
