popeye1250 -> How are the Polls where you are? (11/2/2010 8:56:50 AM)

I voted at 11:00 and there were about 80-100 people there, way more than the other midterm and off year elections.
The lady who took everyone's tickets told me that all the poll workers were at the school at 4:30 am and there were already 20 cars waiting to vote.
When I left the lines were getting longer and almost out the door. I waited untill 11 so I could miss all the old farts who vote early in the morning.
How's things where you are?

Pretty steady influx of people. I would guess there to be about 50-75 people in the hall and a steady stream coming thru the door and pulling into the parking lot. I voted around 10A and the lady that checked me in said there was a huge line this AM before polls opened. I spoke with one of my Baker-Tisei commrades at my polling place and she was quite encouraged by the turnout.
One thing that Impressed me was the numer of " observers ". There were about 8 of them, usually there are 2.

I'll be out there from 5P til the polls close holding signs for my candidates. It's freaking cold here, I will be looking like the Michelin man. That should be a busy time, as that is when most folks get out of work.

Don't have a clue. I voted by absentee ballot two weeks ago.

MissAsylum -> RE: How are the Polls where you are? (11/2/2010 9:44:10 AM)

5 people.

pahunkboy -> RE: How are the Polls where you are? (11/2/2010 9:54:23 AM)

I was the 40th person to vote around 10 AM.

There was one other person there in front of me.  They could not find my name on the list- as the worker was slow.

Odd thing- there is no 3rd party on the ballot this time- my area.

As usual I split my vote.   PA has a governors race- and a Senator- and of huge interest to me is my state rep.   We had the best ever now retiring- and I want his pick as a successor.

I grabbed 4 pieces of chocolate while there.  I was hoping for a buffet and a gift card tho.

It was very slow. My owner was the 79th person to vote at 11:30 AM at the local polling place. They said it was very slow, this is in the Chicago area.

On my lunch break from working a poll. The precincts in this polling place, 4, seem to all be getting a steady stream of people. It looked like about 20% of the precinct I'm working has already turned out which would suggest a 45% or higher turnout for the day.

Louve00 -> RE: How are the Polls where you are? (11/2/2010 12:02:09 PM)

You can't judge by my precinct.  I was in and out on the presidential election.  From what I'm hearing, its the same for this election, too.

DomYngBlk -> RE: How are the Polls where you are? (11/2/2010 12:23:12 PM)

In and out isn't all bad :)

Hillwilliam -> RE: How are the Polls where you are? (11/2/2010 12:45:47 PM)

Early voting last week. There were probably 10-15 folks ahead of Me. Plenty of machines so I was in and out in 10 mins.

It's been pretty moderate here in Louisiana, given the cold rainy weather, with some parishes suffering
brief power outages. It's also been reported that the call volume was heavier than usual with people
asking where they had to go vote at. Perhaps an indication of alot of  "young" voices waiting to be heard?

I'd like to hope so :)

My fingers are crossed.

hiredgoon83 -> RE: How are the Polls where you are? (11/2/2010 1:33:51 PM)

I was voter #152 at around 10am. There was a few people in line when I was there--kinda surprising to me in a non-Presidental year. That kind of turnout might not be good for the Democrats.

I live way out in the country. Things were like they always are--I was there with one other voter and three poll workers.

I vote early in the morning. Perhaps things pick up later in the day, and especially in the evening.

JstAnotherSub -> RE: How are the Polls where you are? (11/2/2010 4:24:40 PM)

I ended up not going until about 6:15.  Every voting station was full, and I stood in line behind maybe 10 folks.  They had brought twice as many voting machines than usual, so the whole thing took less than 15 minutes.

The man in charge said it had been like that pretty much all day.  I won't know what percentage of our precinct voted until I go to work in the am.  They post the results and percentages on the front door of the school.

eihwaz -> RE: How are the Polls where you are? (11/2/2010 4:45:07 PM)

I voted around 3pm and there were about five other voters, which is a considered a crowd for these parts.

servantforuse -> RE: How are the Polls where you are? (11/2/2010 4:48:06 PM)

Very busy in our small community here. I was number 486 at 9:30 am. This county ( Waukesha County ) is 80 % Republican and apparently sending a message.

Steponme73 -> RE: How are the Polls where you are? (11/2/2010 5:49:54 PM)

voted early on Friday afternoon. There were about 30 people there. There was a steady line of people.

pahunkboy -> RE: How are the Polls where you are? (11/2/2010 6:11:40 PM)

How many times did anyone vote?

the more the merrier.
