The democrats have not compromised in the last two years. They did it all on their own. I do not see the republicans compromising with the democrats in the next two years.

I and others can go on and on, in which Republicans, NOT, Democrats, failed at comprising. As Mr. Stewart pointed out during his final speech this weekend (and as I've said), the system works, when there is 'Give & Take'. When one side is just 'Take', the system breaks down. And that is what Republicans decided to do: only Take and not Give an inch. Have been doing it since Mr. Obama came to office. Maybe you could give us your defination of 'compromise'?

This is pretty simple, if the GOP forces through an 'austerity' budget and prevents a new stimulus bill then the unemployment situation will not improve by 2012, may even be worse depending on how much money the GOP cuts off to the states, and they'll be out as fast as they got in. Their only hope is to become keynsians.

I expect the Republican House to pass relatively popular legislation (of course, anything Boehnor and Cantor allow to the floor will be more popular than what has been passed under Pelosi). I expect some of that to be passed by the dim Senate (some dim Senators will be eager to run as having voted with Republicans). I expect much of that legislation to be vetoed by 0bama0. Who will, quite rightly, pay the price for having done so.
