DocileDom -> Book Recommendations (11/3/2010 9:04:19 AM)

I've been introduced to the BDSM scene by taking on a job as a pro domme, it is something I am passionate about but I have a lot to learn, any book recommendations for a beginner looking to excel in this industry?

Here's is a wonderful thread that was put up by Resident Sadist some time ago.  http://www.collarchat.com/m_1726118/tm.htm

Some that I own that I would recommend on techniques:

Play Piercing

The Family Jewels

Erotic Bondage Handbook

For a more general information:

Screw the Roses (Send Me the Thorns)

The New Topping Book

The Art of Sensual Female Dominance

Female Dominance: Rituals and Practices

Generally, look at what Greenery Press publishes. Lots of good stuff there.

Nothing is better than learning hands-on, though--hopefully you can find some people in your area who can show you up close.

Even if you are not gay, I highly suggest "The Lesbian S/M Safety Manual" Pat Califia (newer presses it may be under Patrick Califia)

And my personal favorite: The Guide to the Correction of Young Gentleman, Alice Kerr-Sutherland  It is the ultimate book for women administering correction to males.  It's hot....practical.....and has an incredible and mysterious historical context.  Has a lot of "how to" advice from a Headmistress to other Headmistresses, (and it's quite obvious that it was not written for women disciplining boys---the author drops enough subtle hints that she's referring to grown men.)
