Whatcha think would happen. To lay the weirdness on even thicker, you could only have the dinosaur or stuffed toy talk for you lol.

I'm sure they'd just likely ask you to go home and change before coming back or maybe not select you.  At the worst I suppose they could think you're retarded.

And no I am not going to do this, though the thought amuses me greatly.

I think it means where they don't select you for jury duty for what ever reason an you're excused?

Have the doctor state that you are lack the capacity to redound a decision in any case.

If I'm ever called again, I think I'll wear head to toe camoflauge

I chuckled at that one Shahar, I don't think they could decide you were mentally incompetent just for that alone, shoot if being weird made you incompetent, then there'd be a whooooooole lot more people in the loony bins an such.

At our courthouse, you wouldn't make it past the security screening with a stuffed animal.  It would have to go in one of the lockers in the front.

Most states have some sort of public mental health law on the books.....here they call it the Baker Act.....if court personnel thought you might be somewhat disturbed, or acting strangely, as in letting the toy talk for you, you just might find yourself explaining your way out of being involutarily committed for observation.

Just sayin'.......

It's a strange way to avoid jury duty.......me, I'd just tell 'em I believe in the death penalty for EVERYTHING!  And considering that I"ve been in so many places, I can't believe that my number hasn't come up at least once!  It used to be my job was pretty much an instant out, but now, even law enforcement folks, sworn and civilian, can't use it as an excuse.  However, most defense laywers don't want us.  Most folks I've known that have been selected just see it as a vacation from work......

I've only been called once & due to my job as a long haul truck driver, I wasn't required to serve. Too hard to make sure I would be in town when they wanted me. I would serve on a jury if called & accepted.

But I kinda like TFB's little fantasy too. [8D]

I've never been called for jury duty, but I'd like to be.  (huge surprise, I know)  [;)]

I've been called twice. First time my husband was in the navy and I didn't have to serve because navy spouses are unreliable since you never know when you'll be moving out and once when my daughter was very young. I was a single mom and I had no childcare or anyone to take care of her so they didn't bother with me. I'd serve if called again but I doubt they'd want me due to my job lol.

eah, that'd be a big old oops wouldn't it. I never have to go inbut if my excusal wasn't granted and I did have to go in I would just go and then make sure to answer the questions contary to what they wanted to get sent home. Though the though did make me chuckle.

I've been called twice.  The first time, it was in CA..but I got the summons about 5 months after I had moved to GA.  The second time was last year, but I wrote the date down wrong in my calendar and missed it.

My brother got passed over for jury duty when he showed up wearing a t-shirt in support of the NRA. Apparently it was a murder trial.

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: if you show up for jury duty selection carrying a stufffed toy sucking thumb in your jammies lol (11/3/2010 11:28:37 PM)

If you did that in my area you'd be fined for impeding a trial (I'm fairly sure that's what its called) But apparently we had a several hundred people trying to get out of jury duty that they had to institute a fine.

If you don't write in (you get the summon 2 months in advance) and explain why you cant and are not excused, If you don't show up you get a fine, If you do show up and are dressed in anything but business professional clothes, you get fined, If you had a talking Dino, you'd be fined and probably committed.

Oh please, not everyone can afford "business professional attire". Some people own nothing more than t-shirts and jeans.

Very true, thats why if you cannot show up attired properly you write in and explain due to financial hardship you cannot show up in business attire, and they excuse you.

However if you show up in jeans and a t you get fined, the clerk explained this to a person in our group when they showed up that way.

I was just going to say, not every one can or does dress buisnessy. It's good to know they'd consider that.

(making a mental not a talking Dino would not be well recieved)

funny side story one time I was checked into a pych hospital with 2. Stuffed toys and a real baby bottle and instead of asking me about it, the pyche dr automatically assumed I pretended the 2 toys were alive and I "fed them" with the bottle. In reality the bottle was for me lol, but I wasn't going to share that un asked, I just let him think what he wanted to. :p
