maybemaybenot -> Irrefutable proof (11/4/2010 2:38:02 PM)

Back when I read THIS thread, I have been patiently waiting to refute it. Well... Midterm elctions 2010 have given me what I need. [8D]

But not nearly as impressive as the feat achieved by state Sen. Jenny Oropeza (D-Long Beach), who won reelection despite having been dead for 13 days.

Oropeza received 58 percent of the vote versus Republican John Stammreich's 36 percent.

Seriously now..... 58% of the electorate didn't know she died ? LOL

58% of the electorate preferred a deadwoman to a republican. LOL, indeed

hlen5 -> RE: Irrefutable proof (11/4/2010 2:42:42 PM)

I'm finding it hard to figure out what this proves? That voters are basically stupid? The thread references religion vs intelligence.

Well, it might not be quite that bad. 55% of the voting in CA is done by mail. If that split 60:40 thats 33% who might have voted before she died. That leaves 25% of the electorate and 35% of the Dems who either didnt know she died or did know and figured a Dem would get her seat if elected since her name was (presumably) still on the ballot.

Id be more concerned about the dead people who voted for her.

Pssst, Hlen5:

Hint: political humor

/humor mode on

Democrats will say that any dead Democrat is better than any live Republican.

Republicans will say that Democrats are Stepford voters so they will vote for a dead Democrat because they programmed to always vote for any Democrat.

/humor mode off

In Chicago/Cook County Illinois (where I live), the latter seems to be the case although it is usually the dead voting for the living, not the living voting for the dead. Or is that the living dead voting for Democrats? (Which this area routinely does.)

Be well....

No humor conditions needed for that one.

LOL, Hlen. It's hard to know in this medium. I thought the lil cool smilie would get the point across, but now I see it could look like me thinking I'm cool. Oh well, it's good for a laugh. Sometimes folks around here take politics wayyyyyy too seriously. Thought I would lighten it up a bit.[:D]

The original quote I think was liberal vs conservative.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Irrefutable proof (11/4/2010 5:26:53 PM)

Unfortunately, a lot of people on both sides would vote for a flatworm if it had the right letter (D) or (R) after its name.

Vote early. Vote often. Being dead is no excuse for not doing both.

Oh, so you got the result you wanted on Tuesday so now you can be jovial and funny? I have noticed that the last few days with your pals. Even pops seem to have a lighter step, if that is possible. Hey, well great, as long as you are happy......

Actually the link I clicked on mentioned both...

Liberals and Atheists Smarter?

See, this way you can slam conservatives and religious people in one breath. Twice the bang for your buck.

Honestly, I think the only reason people do this is to try and make themselves look smarter by comparison. Kinda sad when you think about it.

thishereboi -> RE: Irrefutable proof (11/5/2010 5:20:25 AM)

Well I can't speak for her, but I am a whole lot happier now that I don't have to listen to the political ads every time I turn on the tv. As far as being happy about the results. I am totally thrilled that Grahnholm is history, but she was out no matter who won. I will wait and see if they actually accomplish anything before I say if I am happy about the house members we chose. I am not happy that the tax hike passed, even though I voted for it. It may be necessary, but it won't put a smile on my face. Well, not the kind of smile I get when I look at your pic anyway[8D] So when are you going to post one of you smiling?

DomYngBlk -> RE: Irrefutable proof (11/5/2010 5:28:08 AM)

You know very well I never smile. Just ask anyone here

I'm a funny girl, YDB !
C'mon now....I would have posted this same story, sans the reference to the other thread, if it had been a Rep, Ind or any other party. It's funny. It's not like this is the first time I have posted humorous stuff on CM. I laughed just as hard when some one posted the Basil Marceaux ( Rep) link a few months ago.

My humor is sarcastic, so sometimes it's missed in this medium. But I assure you I am funny enough to put a smile even on your face.[;)]

Yes you are maybenot. I was just funnin you. But you have to admit there are a few here that seem giddy these last few days that couldn't break a smile if you paid them for it........

As for the stories to make me laugh.....maybe.......but I am sure there are other things you have that would make me smile [:D]
