I would say no. Before last Tuesday, I would say yes.

So when the government was mostly Democrat you would have supported the government suspending due process and giving itself extra powers, but now that it's mixed you don't?

How partisan.

ABSOLUTELY!

Under the war powers act, banking, and the lieber code, via the reconstructions of 1868 and 1938 and several others.

If you are one of the 20 million or so that has been out of work for some months...it is a state of emergency.

However, if you are just another empty suit on wall street or a banker or a qualifying farmer say cotton, ethanol or a producer of lumber or steel...it is Shangri La.

Have you investigated where that term comes from?

Applying it anyway you see fit does not mean that was its intended use or that it even applies to your usage of it.

you might want to mull that idea over yourself,  in view of your massive body of work.

I think most countries are in a state of something all the time.   Call it what you will   Emergency is way to broad   Hurricane Katrina  was an emergency, the 1906 earthquake in SF was a state of emergency, WWII was a state of emergency, my wallet is in a state of emergency

yup here is another perfe t example of how they reversed the meaning and intent of the constitution so they can grant to themselves powers NOT enumerated.

http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/natsec/98-505.pdf

check out the word dance and presumptions.

would make a great drama movie imo.

This week I scored some GREAT deals on proof sets,  Barber halfs, dimes, and a MS graded eagle.

Rebates I earned were paid out-

I am abit in a bind tho.   I ponder  cashing in a gold coin- so as to switch to silver.   I am not sure yet.

Nixon closed the gold window in 1971.   :-)

You know-  some here know that my aunt was on one of the last trains out when Hitler went wild.   She expressed alot over Wiemar over the years.
The people in Germany had it all--- they thought their standard of living would never crash.

I know you profess that we have a good president- and the money value is safe.

Consider tho- what happens to every fiat currency.

So- the good news is that you are young.  A wipe out of the collapse of your job, house, savings, and retirement-   you can bounce back via hard work- as you have your youth going for you.

I can not take that chance of starting over again. --( I am middle aged)

Why does Obama have 43 czars?

Do you even know what a czar is?

A free people do not need a czar.

Back to your age-- you have no memory of the cold war.

Did you pay attention is school?    Say in history class?

If you did not relax- you are very young-  you can start over via hard work.  No big deal.

Hmmm......country is run by corporations buying votes, high unemployment, outsourcing, no single-payer health care, etc. I'd say that qualifies as a state of emergency and not likely to change anytime soon. When Sir and I are through with our educations, we're outta here. Time to LEGALLY immigrate to a country where the government actually cares about its people.
