Strangely enough the report seems to forget that the accuracy for the predictions of celestial occurrences has been accurate to the day and time, something that would not be true if the calender was off by fifty years or so. The Mayans were skilled mathematicians, time-keepers, and astronomers, made even more impressive considering their technology. They knew equinoxes, solstices, phases of the moon, eclipses, and even planetary alignments (and a very important tracking of Venus). You don't need a computer, calculator, or even a slide rule to do this, as long as you have smart men who make diligent and accurate observations. They used three different calendars, but these were used primarily for historical purposes, not any kind of predicting the future, excepting the obvious case of well calculated astronomical events. The only thing that REALLY happens in 2012 is that the current calender ends, which means the cycle starts over, i.e the dawn of a new age. I am not sure if the next cycle is the next cycle of destruction or if we are in a cycle of destruction. Considering the number of major quakes and volcanic eruptions, bizarre behavior of politicians, rise in violence, I tend to think we are going into an age of destruction.
