Washington (CNN) -- To no one's surprise, the Supreme Court on Monday rejected the first constitutional challenge to the sweeping health care reform effort championed by President Barack Obama and the Democratic-controlled Congress.
The justices without comment refused to get involved at this early stage, while various state and federal challenges are continuing. The high court rarely accepts cases before they have been thoroughly reviewed by lower courts. A challenge to the law was brought by a California conservative group. Higher profile lawsuits have been brought by state officials in Florida, Virginia and almost two dozen other states. At issue is whether the health care law is constitutional in requiring citizens to obtain health care coverage or face financial penalties, as well as forcing states to expand Medicaid. Separate federal judges have reached conflicting preliminary rulings on the legality of the health care overhaul. Legal experts say they expect the issues to ultimately end up before the U.S. Supreme Court, but that may not happen for at least a year or two.

2012 is gonna be a fascinating year

This debate is from over. Here's what will probaly happen in the end. This whole issue will eventually come before the United State's Supreme court.3 of the Liberal Judge's will support this law,3 of the conservative Judge's will vote against the law....The 7th and last jusge, will probaly flip a coin in the bathroom and will base his final decision of this law on whether the coin is head's or tail's!...That's how other case's have been dealt with lately....LMAO

Newsflash Charles...your math skills suck...or perhaps you skipped a few classes....There are 9,count'em 9 Supremes. Not seven, now I know they are both odd numbers.....but you will look a little silly next time you try to discuss the recent 4-3 scotus decision.

I believe that all supreme court justices take their job very seriously. To suggest that they toss a coin before ruling on a case is idiotic.

I agree with SCOTUS.   It is premature to get it to them.   I am sure it will happen   just not now
