ORIGINAL: Fellow GM now has more workers working outside the US than inside. Why did not China and European countries bail it out? GM increasingly turns its US factories into into car assembly plants instead of manufacturing. Besides, they pay no US taxes. [ http://www.stockmarketdigital.com/sectors/nasdaq-usa/gm-can-avoid-federal-taxes-50-billion-profits ]. So, what are we actually looking at? Is it a merger of big business and the government (commonly known as fascism) against people? GM passed 802,000 for presidential campaign in 2008 (52% Democrat). Not surprisingly Obama is a co-conspirator in destroying US economy. So tell me, O Oracle.... Which do you think should have happened? Let them go down the tubes--for which there's an argument, but at the cost of one hell of a ripple effect, from jobs to capacity? Or have Obama wave his voodoo-dick and make the world go away, back to the way things were before we invented ships and caravans? Or perhaps face reality, that the automobile market is flooded, with more cars than drivers (literally)? The Chinese will sooner or later introduce a fuel efficient car for 1/3 to 2/3 of what autos cost now, and cash-strapped consumers squeezed at the pump will buy them in droves, hurting even Honda and Toyota. Now, a company could say, "Gosh, WE could make cars like that!" and get going....or complain that the economy isn't favorable. Which do you think represents a company successful for the future? Beyond that, your rant is crap--we have a limited time stake, on which it's long been known we'd likely see a good return (if not the kind we perhaps should have), and which doesn't even begin to rise to the government involvement in industry we've seen in earlier decades of our history. The sky may remain where it is, totally nonplussed over who's in the White House. But then, it hasn't yet heard your wisdom.
