Yes. Like one girl I know, is terrified of bugs, all bugs. Fortunately she thinks being scared is 'hot'.

Most of the time I refuse to plan anything because things usually never work as planned. It's only 5:37am and I've only had about half of the contents of my 6 cup moka pot so my brain isn't too functional...however I can think of two instances where I did a fair bit of planning. Both involved the s-types mind more than any implements.

I think the type of play you are into will often determine how much planning is required. I enjoy messing with their reality, what they think is happening/going to happen, versus what is and will. Most of the stuff I dream up, in that regard, takes planning.

For sure-constructive input is constructive input. Sometimes a partner will come up with the best idea in the universe, and then you get to see them wince as they realise they've just told you how to make their lives even worse in the perfect way...definitely hawt [:D][:D][:D]

So true. Helps to be good at listening. For some reason, I have a really, really good memory when it comes to what people have said. I still remember pieces of conversations from many years ago.

P.S. Writers like to write on trains, though. So, I don't think it counts as nerdy unless it involved a calculator. [;)]

I tend to take scenes like a road trip. I know where I am and where I want to end up and kind of the way I want to get there. If the opportunity for a cool unplanned side trip presents itself, though, I'm not averse to going wth it even though it might take me in a totally different direction from the original plan.

Does that make sense?

allthatjaz -> RE: Forward Planning (11/12/2010 2:56:48 PM)

Neither Steve or me tend to plan ahead too much. With things such as needle play one needs to have everything in their box but even when we have done needle performances, we tend to only start off with a general idea of what we are going to be doing.
We have only ever once planned something to the letter and that was only because the scene involved 4 of us and only one person was oblivious to what was about to take place. As the scene got going it started to deviate (as most things do) but we all stuck within the boundaries we had originally agreed to. I found that having a script was tedious and very limiting.
Even when it comes to doing a performance in a club, I can spend weeks planning it only to find myself changing everything at the 11th hour. I guess I just feel more comfortable and natural when I do it off the cuff.

PeonForHer -> RE: Forward Planning (11/12/2010 3:10:39 PM)

Funny.  I've often heard about this principle: that the best sort of creativity comes as a result of working towards a plan, but then trashing that plan.  This, for some reason, gives much better results than never planning at all.

VaguelyCurious -> RE: Forward Planning (11/12/2010 3:44:29 PM)

I'd guess that it was because having a plan gives you a sense of security-a base idea from which to deviate is very different from foundationless floundering...

Twoshoes -> RE: Forward Planning (11/12/2010 6:45:57 PM)

Backward planning would be such a good ability. Why can we not influence the past? *shakes fist*

Humm... that's kinda nerdy.

And your point, Mr Speccy Foureyes?

You're just jealous because you have no hot lesbians to play with [8D][8D][8D][8D]

But it's true - it would be a deep joy to have a bunch of hot lesbians to play with ;-)

How's about you stick to attempts at light humour and let me do the wordporn, ok? [8D][8D]

MasterFireMaam -> RE: Forward Planning (11/13/2010 8:57:50 PM)

It depends on the kind of interaction that is going to happen. Some things require prior planning, simply for safety. Some things require prior planning to offer the full effect, such as ritual. But, as much as possible, We will often leave things open. Spirit has a way of working best that way.

CallaFirestormBW -> RE: Forward Planning (11/14/2010 5:41:29 AM)

I plan -- then again, my fetishes-of-choice deal with needles, branding pens, and scalpels, and used to also include fire (though not so much these days)... so... yeah... I plan.
