Never mind all this, "Is it tasty?" talk. . .  i'm willing to rub Borscht in my hair or whatever if Viggo Mortensen is willing to be there in his boxer-briefs.

From the Jennie Grossinger (of Grossinger's fame) Cookbook.
10 large beets, peeled and grated
2 1/2 quarts water
1 onion minced
2 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice

Bring to boil and simmer one hour

Beat two eggs and slowly add soup to them. Allow to chill, serve with boiled potatoes and garnished with sour cream.

It's an acquired taste. As a kid, I thought anything my grandmother liked was great. I imagine if I had it again, after all these years I might think differently.

I've had so many different regional types of borscht that I've lost count. I still like my mom's version the most! I'll see if I can get the recipe from her.
