Good point, at least as far as the message boards go. When I did a name change, I kept this in mind and considered how I felt about "Bones" or "BFA"...I'm cool with both.

OP, I have a tendancy to transpose or change words without meaning to as I read. When I first saw your current name, I read it as 'lichenforyou'.

As for your new possibility, 'toserveonlyYou', I see 'toserve' and assume that would mean non-sexual. I know, "never assume because it makes an ass out of u and me", but that's what I read it to mean.

Does the description fit?

With this in mind, you could change it to Love2serveonlyYou....you will then always be referred to as love. [sm=hearts.gif]

Good point, Po.  It's worth thinking about how people will abbreviate one's nick on these boards.

If you want to differentiate yourself from the masses, go with a name that reflects your hobbies or interest outside of BDSM completely.  Profile names that are "job descriptions" are a time a dozen. While a nickname expressing a desire to serve may elevate your status above the guys with names like "Fartsniffer" and "BendingOver4Fem," you would be surprised how many names have "serve" in them - and we all know how sincere all these guys are who want to serve.  Why not pick something vanilla?  Those are the ones that at least stand out.

I'm inclined to go with this school of thought myself. I like the names that show a bit of creativity. Names with "serve" and "sub" are a dime a dozen. So are names with "2B" representing "to be," and "4U" representing "for you." Something a little quirky or unique is more likely to catch my attention and stand out in my mind.

Thanks everyone who took the time to give me advice. There was some very thoughtful responses in there.

Lockit - i would be fine with toserve as a nickname. i get Your point about board discussions, though. i find that to be true with "licken" when i'm on the Politics and Science board = LOL.

BambiBoi - good point

VaguelyVurious - i knew You were joking. and, You made some good points.

AAkasha - i see Your point, and will think about it.

Bones - no, it does not mean non sexual. And, i'm not sure that would be how it is read by others. As far as the Boards go, i don't mind toserve, although i'm not crazy about it either.

Poise - LOL, i can't say that i hate that idea. It is great food for thought in the future.

Spy - i agree with the creativity thing to a point. i may try that in the future.

LadyPact - You got exactly what i was going for. And, You have given me so much great advice, i really appreciate it. Since i hope to attract a Domme as intelligent and intuitive as You appear to be, i am going to go with the name toserveYouonly for awhile and see how that goes.

My nick has meaning to me.....sometimes that's all that counts.  Free..... as in I can do as I want.... Butterfly as in I have come out of a very dark enclosed place (a cocoon) and into the light and life.  A nickname for me will always have some sort of meaning whether it is here or FetLife.... I come from a place where I can choose how to be called.  So I am Free Butterfly.
