I am sure it will be televised.  maybe you can see it on a wide screen- like at a sports bar.    Will you stay up late to watch the holy specatcle?

tazzygirl -> RE: ROYAL WEDDING!!! (11/16/2010 12:45:15 PM)

rofl... now a wedding is a holy spectacle.

servantforuse -> RE: ROYAL WEDDING!!! (11/16/2010 1:22:34 PM)

PA, I know one thing for sure. This wedding will not be on TV in the bars that I frequent.

Yes-  they will have to close a road or two.  It wont be convenient for the peasants.   and they will have security- and close down air traffic over the venue.   There likely will be media from around the world too.

They will have a church wedding- so holy-  fits.

She should Americanize her accent.

There will be tourists everywhere, prices will rise, there will be a massive disturbance in traffic and air traffic and all us poor locals will have to deal with every burp the bride, groom or one of their families have. Maybe I should take a vacation outside the country while it happens and rent out the house to some tourists, with a bit of luck I can pay off my mortgage...

LOL.  Yeah-  they are doing the riverfront here.. the paper announced traffic was back to normal- which of course it is not.

There will be alot of attention to this wedding.

I seen the happy couple interviewed-  he needs to let her talk more. She can do it.

LadyConstanze -> RE: ROYAL WEDDING!!! (11/16/2010 2:26:22 PM)

Thankfully so far I have escaped having heard too much of it but I think it will change...

I really don't get the big deal, I mean it's not like they've done something spectacular or are of any great use. Can't they have a wedding somewhere else? On a tropical island or so? And let us people get on with our lives, without even more traffic jams and stuff.

What if it were YOUR wedding?

Would they close the airspace?

hehe

LadyConstanze -> RE: ROYAL WEDDING!!! (11/16/2010 2:35:51 PM)

I doubt that very much, but I am not a great fan of marriage anyway, I prefer living in sin.

barelynangel -> RE: ROYAL WEDDING!!! (11/16/2010 6:11:15 PM)

LadyConstanze, i don't know when you think Diana died but your profile says you are 36 and i am 39 and was 27 years old when she died in 1997 which probably means you were 24ish.  So you weren't THAT small, unless you are speaking of size.

Sorry that just popped out at me when i was reading comments.

barelynangel -> RE: ROYAL WEDDING!!! (11/16/2010 6:21:55 PM)

You know, while people may want to make this into something not all that big of a deal, its the concept of the fairytale, a little girl has grown up to become a princess.    Is it a big deal in individual lives, no, but the concept is something little girls have been reading about since Cinderella.

Unfortunately, i don't believe its Wills and Kate who want the spectacle, but in the end, they know what's expected of them.  I think its great Wills doesn't want it in the same church his parents got married in.  So maybe while there will be, i am sure, a cast of sadness for him because his mom isn't going to be there, a different venue may help him.

I am a girl lol i wanna see the DRESS and the flowers and of course the shoes!  I love reading about weddings because they are fun.  I am sure this one will be fun to read about.  I hope they get to have some fun for their wedding, but i am sure they will both be exhausted by the day.  But all in all, they hopefully will live a long and happy life together.

As for Diana, she's gone.  She did some great stuff and she did some not so great stuff.  Sounds like a normal person to me.  I am sad she won't be here to see her son marry a woman he loves.  And i am sad for Wills who probably will feel her loss big time during this special time.  I am additionally sad that she isn't there for Kate, who may have benefited from having someone close she could turn to in this transition.  Hell, i can't imagine the stress of becoming a Princess lol.  I am with LadyConstanze, give me living in sin but damn can you imagine the wardrobe?

Daddysredhead -> RE: ROYAL WEDDING!!! (11/16/2010 6:27:07 PM)

It's a good thing that some of you don't live near Washington, DC.  We have road closures all the time when dignitaries come around, or when the Secret Service or military is doing some type of drill.  The people of the little place near Chelsea Clinton's wedding had to deal with the "upset" of that weekend, too.  It won't be forever, sort of like when the Olympics come to a city in the world.  It brings a lot of revenue, some upheaval for a bit, then it's over.  Life will go on.

and the divorce rate for cowards is...????

Thank you, Holly.  *geez, people*

KatyLied -> RE: ROYAL WEDDING!!! (11/16/2010 6:35:26 PM)

Do they have to test her to make sure she's a virgin?  Do they do that in modern times?  It is a beautiful ring.  Hope she gets a prenup, as those royals tend to make bad marriage decisions.

Oh, another "royal" wedding. It's on Yahoo now. I hope they don't put it on t.v. in this country. What a snoozer!
If it is on tv in this country I don't think they'll be showing it at the American Legion hall here.
"Drink up boys! Now what do you want to watch, the "royal" wedding or Nascar?"

littlewonder -> RE: ROYAL WEDDING!!! (11/16/2010 8:57:16 PM)

I'm a hopeless romantic. I watched Diana's wedding with all the oohs and aahhs. I wanted to be her. I thought it was a spectacular and beautiful sight to behold. I'm looking forward just as much to Prince William 's and the future Princess Kate's wedding. I want to see the dress, the flowers, the revelry, etc...It's every little girl's dream, the fairytale. I found it very touching that he gave her his mother's engagement ring and that he carried it around for weeks waiting for the right time to ask her.

I wish them both a long and happy marriage and  hope they enjoy every moment of their lives together.

Well I'm just glad they are putting some English back into the royal family.
When Prince William arrives at the throne, he will be the most English king since Edward VI (Henry VIII’s son) and right on his arm is going to be a very English queen!
