Elisabella -> "pre-owned slave" (11/18/2010 7:32:47 AM)

I saw this phrase in someone's sig line and it made me think of buying a pre-owned car...I'm guessing it means someone who has had experience in a M/s relationship

The full sig quote implied that someone might not want a "pre-owned slave" and I wonder, isn't that sort of like only dating virgins?

But my question is really to the slaves - what do you think of this term? Would you use it to describe yourself or do you find it insulting? Is it used mostly by people who view themselves as human property?

I have a sort of visceral reaction, because everything I can think of that is considered 'pre-owned' like a car or electronics is something that loses value with age.

NuevaVida -> RE: "pre-owned slave" (11/18/2010 7:44:20 AM)

I actually find it funny.  Was she being humorous?

Elisabella -> RE: "pre-owned slave" (11/18/2010 7:49:14 AM)

Not sure tbh - this is the full quote:

Some say they don't want a pre-owned slave because she is hard to retrain, wants what she had before, and is not a blank slate to write upon. What they do not consider is that a pre-owned slave might have been very well-trained in being... an empty slate

JanahX -> RE: "pre-owned slave" (11/18/2010 7:50:45 AM)

Sounds like an Internet term to me ..... like so much of this terminology is.  People just use words and make up their own definitions  for it.  Forget any kind of dictionary definition, no one believes in that book any more!

Seems silly to me, and as though it's written by someone who hasn't had a lot of experience with M/s.

ownedbyPF -> RE: "pre-owned slave" (11/18/2010 8:00:01 AM)

I know what she's referring to. For some reason some men, maybe women too, I don't know on that one, say they want someone who hasn't been a slave before. You know, they say the slave has predetermined ideas on how to serve. It's kinda like, but NOT the same as people tossing out the... "I don't want a slave who has been trained by someone else, maybe they were trained in a way I disllike." I find this utterly absurd... to me it's like saying... I don't want someone who has been in a relationship before[8|] I would rather be with someone who has been down the road a time or two and learned a decent amount about themselves than someone who is just getting started.

Oops... as to how do I feel about the term? I don't care... I'm a slave, I'm owned, I was owned once before... lol I guess my Master picked up a used slave, but I think he figures he got a good deal and is okay with that. The term itself doesn't bother me in the least... don't like, hate it, or care one way or the other.

~Fast Reply~

The term doesn't really bother me. Some people only like inexperienced folks and that happens in all walks of myself. As for myself, I'm thoroughly "pre-owned" - by my definitions anyway. Some people are going to like that, some aren't, and some won't care. So far, I haven't found a lot of people who are bothered by it. If anything, it's been my experience that people are thrilled to find a submissive woman who has a good idea what she wants, what she likes, what she dislikes, etc. So I just really don't concern myself with the people who aren't interested. It doesn't make them bad and it doesn't make me bad - just means we don't want the same things.

littleone35 -> RE: "pre-owned slave" (11/18/2010 9:19:53 AM)

Well i was owned before so i guess that makes me a pre owned sub. Did not bother Master one bit. Sure i was trained and just had to be i guess the term would be re trained. i did not need to re learn the basics just to learn what he wanted/ expected of me. My first relationship also taught me what i did not want. So if i was not pre owned i might not have known Master was the perfect Master for me.

As for getting older and losing value Hey we all get older. Master says i am pricless, and i am just getting better with age.

It indicates a sense of humor to me, much better than "x years in the lifestyle", etc.

I don't want to know how many miles you've got, I want to know how many miles you've got left on you. [;)]

slaveluci -> RE: "pre-owned slave" (11/18/2010 12:06:17 PM)

Would you prefer "used" to "pre-owned?"[;)]

I don't find it insulting in the least. What people call themselves is their own business and is in no way reflective of me or what I am. Frankly, I think it's humorous and if one is a slave and has been owned before what is he/she but a "pre-owned" slave? Technically, it's correct and, as I said, sounds better than "used."

How about "reconditioned"?

It seems to me that the last statement is urging you to think along these lines...her previous relationship was not of enough significance in the end for her to want to retain ANY of her training and so, is a blank slate ORRR that she was trained in the idea that if she left that relationship, it was always better to enter a new one as a blank slate...without baggage.

BTW...not everything loses value with age.  Have you seen what a number 1, or even number 2 or 3, "58" Chevy Impala with a 348 and 3 deuces brings???

slavekal -> RE: "pre-owned slave" (11/18/2010 1:28:39 PM)

Of course I am pre-owned by this age.  But I am certified pre-owned.  If I had not had some relationships by this age, there would be something seriously wrong with me.

littlewonder -> RE: "pre-owned slave" (11/18/2010 3:36:45 PM)

pre-owned slave. lol...well that's a new one.

I find it humorous. I am one of those "pre-owned" slaves and Master doesn't seem to mind. He actually likes that I am because I already knew what I wanted and that I had experiences and already knew how to be obedient. It was pretty easy for me to just fall right back into place of where I was before.

Anyone who would not have wanted me because I was "pre-owned" would not have been the type of man I would have wanted to be with. I mean come on. I'm 38 years old and culturally submissive and have many life experiences. I'm not a child and I'm not a life inexperienced person.

I agree. I liked one who already knew the ropes, no pun intended.
An experienced slave brings many skills you might appreciate to the table. Blank slates are ... well, blank.

Its my belief they dont want a pre-owned slave so their "slave" wont know the mistakes they as the owner are making.

Elisabella -> RE: "pre-owned slave" (11/18/2010 4:21:02 PM)

Thank you all for the replies :)

Luci you're right that what people choose to call themselves is their own business, it just struck me as an odd turn of phrase, so I was wondering if it was common.

Creative - true :D Maybe the "pre-owned slaves" should start calling themselves Vintage. XD

DesFIP -> RE: "pre-owned slave" (11/18/2010 5:07:56 PM)

I can tell you what The Man told me, which was that the last several women he had met were seeking to recreate their previous relationship. He got tired of hearing them say "My old dom didn't tie like that" and so on. There are a lot of people who don't get over their previous relationships and nobody wants to spend a dinner date listening to stories about their ex.

kiwisub12 -> RE: "pre-owned slave" (11/18/2010 5:29:05 PM)

I don't consider myself "used"   -  i prefer to think of myself as "seasoned" ..... or preconditioned (like a cast iron dutch oven) .......... or preheated (like an oven) and ready to cook!

Actually, i'm the sum of my experiences, and think i am much more interesting now than when i was 21.  The lord only knows, my body is much more interesting - with bumps and lumps, where when i was 21 it was all boring and smooth and stuff!

FredW -> RE: "pre-owned slave" (11/18/2010 6:51:53 PM)

Unless we are virgins we are all 'used'.  Maybe not in a M/s way, but still 'used'.  But then, experience can be a good thing.

As for the age thing, I will admit that a pretty, hard-bodied young lady will turn my head, but I would rather be with someone older and more experienced when all is said and done.
