I think Pahunk, most people don't give a flying fuck about the royals and it was once a joke that we only had royalty to please the Americans as they have nothing in terms of pageantry for being such a new country.

Ah well.  Not much to write about, since Lincoln never stayed there.  It just doesn't have the same cachet without a little plaque saying "So-and-so slept here!"

Now that's pretty cool, Pahunk. Do they have guards in antique uniforms?

Actually they don't rent out rooms. They rent out properties on the Balmoral Estate. You would not get anywhere near the Castle itself.

We fought a war with you just so we didn't have to have royals.

And we can spell words like check, honor, and color properly, without the extra u's and the "que" at the end.

So there.

Pahunk, I think you know more about the royals than many brits, we just ignore them as the reality is they do not impact our lives on a tangible level, beats me why you over there in the US are so concerned with them, unless it is a secret wanting.

The hype about the wedding made me Google the place.

I want to know.

What am I not critical of?       I certainly bash the power structure of the US...   so being Brit would not exempt one from the same attention.

It does sound gluttonous for one family to consume 50,000 acres.  That space ought to be for the entire country - not just the connected.

The royals are among the biggest land holders in the world.

The only step up from Royal is Goldman Sachs.          There is a cultural thing-  the US does not have castles or titles- unless you count the 43 Czars!   HA!  and Disneyland.

We do have our A- list.

The Bank of England is part owner of the Federal Reserve.  The royals own the Bank or England.

So there is a pattern here.

The question is-  are all men created equal?   Do men have unalienable rights?

This whole TSA issue is funny to watch.   People want to think the constitution applies.    What happens when the masses learn the constitution has been gutted?

Finally the US does not have libel laws as they do in EU/UK.    So  people tend to be verbose....

I am sure it is a mixed bag...

Alot of castles in the UK do rent out rooms/cottages/properties for guests. My parents celebrated their 50th anniversary in one in Cornwall. They were married in Scotland and returned to Scotland and England for their anniversary. It was always a " dream " of my Dad's to stay in a real castle, he was a history and architecture buff. Had nothing to do with the Royals... my Mom is from Scotland and despises everything Royal Family.

When did that happen? The royals do not and have never owned the Bank of England.

Perhaps you should get your facts straight before posting rubbish like this.

In fact the Queen and the majority of the royal family all hold their accounts with Coutts Bank,
