House Republicans block bill to extend jobless benefits

WASHINGTON – Republicans in the House Thursday blocked a bill that would have extended jobless benefits for the long-term unemployed beyond the holiday season. An extension of jobless benefits enacted this summer expires Dec. 1, and unless they are renewed, two million people will lose benefits averaging $310 a week nationwide by the end of December.

What do they call that thing where you use two words that can't possibly coexist next to each other in the same sentence?

Like:

Military Intelligence
Adult Male
Compassionate Conservatism
Business Ethics
Corporate Conscience
Free Vote

Well, this does bring up an interesting point.

If the uploybenis go down the drain, will they qualify for welfare, and if so, if the nutsuckers then make a law that the upoly loosers cant get welfare can they in anyones mind claim it as a cut to the welfare system, without any actual slash and burn.

Hey, they're just giving the people what they want................tone.deaf.

Compassionate conservatism?Yea,I've known about 3 people who could be considered true compassionate conservative's.I don't mind these kind of conservative's.But they are a minority. Most neo-conservative's like to kick puppy's and throw cat's by their tail's. They are evil people with no soul's.Only care about themselve's and their rich butt buddie's.

What I want to know is why I am looking at a pig in shoes instead of a nice ass in a g-string?

I make $35,000 a year more or less although the local govt I retired from is considering cutting my income by $152 a month (2nd cut in a year) and am paying about 45% ( in taxes (fed/state, sales, etc) according to published tax tables.  If we keep up with tax and spend, how am I going to survive much less my peers and no I don't draw social security.

subrob1967 -> RE: Compassionate conservatism at its finest! (11/19/2010 3:51:59 AM)

Please sir, I want some more

The "compassionate conservatives" would be happy to extend benefits, if the compassionate liberals would only
STOP FUCKING SPENDING MONEY THEY DON'T HAVE... But that's a concept too damn hard for progressives to understand.

You know, it's really comforting to bitch about it, but what spending programs would you specifically like to cut so we stop tax and spend?

Would you like to do away with roadway maintenance? Airport security? Police and fire departments?

How about if we do away with Social Security?  You may not be drawing it now but how well will that sit with you when you are eligible?

So you have sucked off the teat of the Gov't your whole life and have the temerity to downgrade it? WTF?

So let me try to follow this, conservatives would be happy to extend benefits if only liberals stop spending.

But wouldn't extending benefits increase spending?

Conservative logic is a marvel to behold.

DomYngBlk -> RE: Compassionate conservatism at its finest! (11/19/2010 5:24:47 AM)

Don't worry rob has a gov't job and retires in 13 years and will probably then be collecting and getting another job to double dip. Fuck me.....hypocrisy

Yes, the liberals absolutely should not spend a nickel. Only the conservatives are allowed to do that. We've got a two-war million-dollar-a-day habit still ongoing and a few trillion in bailouts to pay multi-million dollar bonuses to top management scammers to prove it. So just -stop- it, liberals. And tough teddy about all those lost jobs and lost houses, but priorities is priorities.
