Actually, after a casual glance at your profile, you might be better off posting this topic in the "Ask a Dom" forum. You can get lots of insight into a submissive's point of view, but that's not much help for learning the overall basics of dominance. As to ropes, I suggest the boyscouts. There are numerous web sites put up by various boy scout troupes or former boy scouts devoted to knots, with clear instructions and illustrations walking you through the whole process. I'm rather fond ofthis site. You should never underestimate the value of rope in your toybox. It's cheap, its compact, and its incredibly versatile. Just learning how to make simple cuffs and a safety knot can seriously advance your ability to play, especially since you can keep a few yards of cheap cotton or nylon clothesline in your jacket for spur-of-the-moment situations. Don't worry about the incredibly elaborate japanese shibari stuff just yet. You can get a lot done with just a few loops of cord and a square knot.
