Look for a mentor Nap. A good mentor is not going to get you laid or any type of physical contact.

I don't know what you are seeking...only making assumptions with the little you gave us to go on.

The folks here on the message boards are an incredibly valuable resource. Just about any question you have can be answered, in depth, including reference material in some cases, from half a dozen different perspectives and philosophical points of view. Do not hesitate to ask, someone here has whatever answer you need. Seriously, this is one of the coolest communities I've had the pleasure to participate in.

Actually, after a casual glance at your profile, you might be better off posting this topic in the "Ask a Dom" forum. You can get lots of insight into a submissive's point of view, but that's not much help for learning the overall basics of dominance. As to ropes, I suggest the boyscouts. There are numerous web sites put up by various boy scout troupes or former boy scouts devoted to knots, with clear instructions and illustrations walking you through the whole process. I'm rather fond ofthis site. You should never underestimate the value of rope in your toybox. It's cheap, its compact, and its incredibly versatile. Just learning how to make simple cuffs and a safety knot can seriously advance your ability to play, especially since you can keep a few yards of cheap cotton or nylon clothesline in your jacket for spur-of-the-moment situations. Don't worry about the incredibly elaborate japanese shibari stuff just yet. You can get a lot done with just a few loops of cord and a square knot.

Hi Nap, as Gloria pointed out a Mentor is really the best idea to learn. Getting started as a submissive in the lifestyle I would think is a whole lot easier then becoming a Dom. I would post in “ask a Master” asking for some advice and if anyone had time to Mentor You. There are Lots of wonderful Doms/Masters here. I have seen several Doms who start off as submissive for Dommes also, I do not know if this option is right for You or not but gives insight to both sides of the spectrum. Learning the lifestyle takes time and patience, it is not an easy task.

Read the boards, information and knowledge are a great start. Ask questions! There are many sections in CM Boards for all topics, just ask what you don’t understand and W/we will all try and help.

Be upfront when You talk with a submissive that You are new, don’t try and hide the fact You have a lot to learn. Trust me she will know either way eventually. Don’t get discouraged if some subs look over You because Your new.

If You haven’t been to castlerealm You should really go there and read it.

Best of luck!
Be well…
