Ok, I was just a young kid when the film came out but it really struck a chord with me...the grime and immorality of the city, Travis' unrequited advances, Betsy's cool approach to every situation.

I felt for him; he was just misunderstood, and although at one point he tells Betsy she's the unhappy lonely one, perhaps if he'd had the internet, he'd had known he wasn't the only one in his situation.

Bernard Hermann's score perfectly epitomises the feel of the city - don't ask me how I know that. I just FEEL it.

:)

I think it's a great classic movie, wonderful camerawork for its time but I can't say I can relate much to the character but still a classic that is fitting for any generation I think.

Love that film. It rocks. I bet I have seen it at least a dozen times. Classic. His torment is palpable onscreen.

If that had been the only movie Deniro ever did, it alone would have been sufficient to establish him as one of the greatest actors of his generation. And the film itself is one of those relatively rare movies that define the decade in which they were made. Definitely on my list of the 100 greatest movies ever made.
