Well, we have some nearly 8 years of off book war to pay for. How you gonna solve that? And Ireland and in fact the EUs troubles are not due to printing money. They are not having inflation issues there, so I am kinda wondering what your off topic and off your rocker comments have to do with Banks in Ireland.

It's a great shame that it has come to this in Ireland. The funny thing is that the country is still genuinely wealthy and has a growing exports sector but its outgoings on an daily basis are immense. Combine that with terrible regulation of the banks, the collapse of an absurdly over-inflated property market, and it was a recipe for disaster. It is the fault of the ruling F. Faul party – years of economic mismanagement. It isn't quite a bail out like Greece because the money is mainly to draw on to secure the banks if it is required. Essentially the situation is that Ireland responded quickly to the crisis when it became clear one bank would fall which could have had a knock on effect elsewhere. The same bank is more or less the causal for bringing down the economy as the continual speculation about its true losses led to market uncertainly. Of course the insufferably smug British media wasted no time in attacking Ireland (e.g. the Financial Times) which genuinely harmed the country’s reputation. Ireland was in a bad state but was going in the right direction by restructuring and making real efforts to cut dept but this stuff unduly undermined confidence in the markets which helped lead to a downgraded rating and huge rises in interest rates. All I hope at this stage is that Ireland does not take a bi-lateral loan off the UK as quite frankly we will never hear the end of it. I think the moral of the story is that perception is key with regard to the markets. If it/they really think they see a country going down, little can be done to change that belief, and anything such as Angela Merkle’s comments about bond holders which in no way related to the present circumstances was used as a justification to bolster further doubts leading to a runaway situation which could affect other countries in the EU. It is an example of a very unfortunate human tendency to see any tittle tattle as justifying your belief and reject or nullify anything that does not suit/fit. I have come to the belief that the power of the markets needs to be lessened internationally.

What ! get a loan of the UK, can't do that for we have no money, at least that is what we are told and there the reason why we are loosing our public services. Well, at Least the new measures have brought about the employment of a personal hair stylist for the pm on an award of 50 k per year, but he has sadly had to let his public purse paid for personal photographer go after the masses got to hear about that little luxury. Could the reality be we are all being fobbed and robbed by the powerful elite.

Nothing could be further from the truth. It was greed pure and simple that caused the fall of the Irish economy.

Anaxagoras, you really are full of shit. But to answer your criticism as why I did not attack another poster because they called you whatever, if that poster chose to insult you, that is between you and them, not me. I am not here for your defence or to draw sides, I respond based upon my interpretaion on/of events, as I see it, not an others party line. That is what independant debate is all about, independant people contributing what they feel is correct, so perhaps new understanding might come from a conversation where independant thought is permitted.
