I did not realize how much I would miss him. I got so used to him laying down at the chair, snuffing for dropped food and for a scratch or two. I want another dog, but Mom is against it. I will give her time. That old chap has affected her badly.

My condolences. When my mom's dog died she had him cremated. She really wanted an angel figure holding a dog for the little shrine. It took a while, but I finally found one. Oh, Shahar!!! I'm so sorry... I know how I felt when my kitty passed away a few weeks ago and it still rips my heart in two. Bless you and your family and know that she was well loved and one day, you will meet again. *hugs*

Thanks everyone. I am still getting up early to take him for his walk. I guess that it is a hard habit to break. I need to lay back down...very sleepy on this end.

OK heres how to get mom to let you have another dog. Buy one of those leashes with an invisible dog at the other end.

i have been looking at petfinder and in my town, all I can get in the immediate area is rat terriers. Too small for my taste (bulkier is what I look for, not a rat with heartworms).

so sorry for your loss, lost two of my cats this year, it still hurts. rat terriers can be great dogs, so don't rule them out completely. i tend to feel the right pet will come along when the time is right. i haven't yet seen the one that grabs my heart and holds on. give yourselves time to heal.
