ORIGINAL: mnottertail Having come thru Scotland to England in the early 70's on my way to St. Catharines house, I was in the service at the time, to look up my ancestors, I can tell you that your police are or were very intrusive. Yeah that's Brit plod, to a tee. The problem is we don't have rights under a Constitution for what we can have, and what protections we enjoy, they have "rules" under the Laws Of Evidence (Police & Criminal Evidence Act, a.k.a. "PACE"), and as we all know policemen like to "bend" rules. And London’s Met Police “Service” (they dropped the “Force” as it was deemed to be too aggressive, I kid you not) are the worst of the lot. You name a rule, they’ll “bend” it like a slinky. Yes, I am hearing disgusting things about actions of the Met in the recent incidents in London, things like crowd charging with horses, pregnant woman squashed up against a wall by one, the infamous kettling of protesters and even a suggestion that the van left in the street was bait, something to do with the fact it was an older problematic model and some suggestion it didn't even have number plates, which would of course meant the Met had broke the law by using an illegal vehicle on the Queen's highway. But I see the use of providing an attraction of anger as it takes attention away from elesewhere and also at the same time creates political imagery which can be used for whatever purposes the establishment or the plebians wish.
