I voted for the stapling/suturing option, because unbeknownst to the general CM population I am just the teensiest bit sadistic. Really, just a really little tiny bit. Honest. I quit smoking nearly 7 years ago & I used the patch. It worked very well for me. But I really wanted to quit. I set a date when I would have my last cigarette & lo & behold, I stopped the day before. I threw out the last pack, slapped a patch on & never looked back. I also didn't use the patches for the recommended length of time. I was done with them within a few weeks. And I smoked 3 packs per day. Iffen she needs encouragement, I am more than happy to supply some. And some staples. [8D]

I gave up smoking 14 months ago, and did it cold turkey with mints... as in every time I wanted a cig I ate a mint. Everhope, did the wellbutrin thing, didn't work for me at all. Chantix is newer and far far more effective, for me personally and in medical tests as well. Keep in mind though I was a really light smoker, maybe 3 or 4 cigarettes a day, but on the weekends when I would have drinks, I smoked like a chimney and it killed me the next day, so anyway, the last time my Dr. gave me Chantix, it worked great! Look into it anyway, and good luck honey, you can do it[:)].

Skip all the drugs and other crutches. Go cold turkey! However, it must be done the right way. This is virtually the perfect timing to make it a New Year's resolution. You must start preparation for it today. Each day, every day, all day, between now and midnight Dec. 31st, tell yourself and EVERYONE you encounter, even total strangers, that come 12:01am 1-1-11 you will no longer smoke. In addition, tell them that if you fail, you will expect them to humiliate, ridicule, and harass you about it....constantly!

my dad stopped smoking 22 years ago and for the first years he spoilt himself each month with buying an addition to his toy trains he collects. So eg if everhope likes handbags she could buy every month a new one to her collection to praise herself for staying strong.
