He didn't come out as a "truther" at all. Just cautious on believing everything he has heard.

But that's not what he said. What he said was -

That's not a vague, general statement that he's unsure exactly what happened and isn't convinced the government is telling the complete truth about every detail. He's specifically stating that he believes the government is lying, and by extension that the demolition of Building 7 was part of a government conspiracy. If that's not the textbook definition of a "truther," what is?
Good point, Panda. I just listened to the audio, and didn't read his words, nor attempt to make a transcript.
The statement ""It's hard for me to believe that it came down by itself." is pretty damning, looked at like that. What I actually took away was a bit different, as the Kennedy assassination has been pretty much explained (at least the ballistics), although it took decades to do so.
Often times, where conspiracy theorist believe in a guiding planning and intelligence, I've often found that it's more likely that things happen due to stupidity and ineptitude, rather than malice and planning.
He is a pretty smart guy, and I think he would likely have the same opinion. So, unless he clarifies what he is thinking, I'm still not convinced that he believes in the "truther" conspiracy.
