LadyPact -> Quick Baking Question - Pumpkin Pie (11/25/2010 2:09:24 PM)

Ok folks.  I'm having a 'duh' moment.

Last week, I had made two pumpkin pies for our 'early' Thanksgiving and has enough filling mix left over to make another one for today.  I remember the first half of the baking cycle is for the pie to be in for the first fifteen minutes at 425 degrees, then the temp gets reduced to 350.  Unfortunately, I don't remember how long it's supposed to stay in at the temperature.  Anybody out there know the amount of time it's supposed to stay in the oven?

I'm thinking it's an hour, but I don't want to confuse total baking time with the two cycles.

Just check it after 30 minutes.  You should be able to eyeball it and see if it is close to done, then use the toothpick test for your final answer.

I do between 45 and 50 additional minutes...or until the center stops jiggling, lol

Thank you both.  It did fine after about fifty minutes.  MP actually laughed at Me for not knowing.  Shoot!  I only bake this kind of pie once a year.  LOL.

Use the toothpick test for done-ness.

Insert a toothpick in the pumpkin pie and if it comes back out clean, the filling has set and it is done. Cook a bit longer if you want browning but it will be done when set.
