It's almost too funny to be true... Did you hear the one about the guy who pretended to be a Taliban commander, completely fooling the terminally dumb MI6, who went to lunch with the Afghan President, was given a huge bag full of money for attending, and then legged it? Turns out he was an Afghan shopkeeper all along... Story here, and again, here. I think we should maybe think about a thread nominating the 'funniest political news story of the week' each week. My guess is that this story will win hands down for this past week...

I have a beard but it isnt long or raggedy enough. I've also bathed in the last year.

What's worrying is that we rely (apparently) on the various security agencies and secret services to get us good intelligence about 'the other side' and ensure that we know who we are dealing with. In this case, they screwed up in a monumental fashion, losing hundreds of thousands of dollars in the process and achieving nothing. Makes me wonder if we can trust anything these clowns tell us.
