Thanks! well if you are talking specifically about mistakes, and not outright disobedience, then i am usually disciplined for those things. the particular method varies, but the point is to help me to not repeat the mistake in the future. it typically involves learning a more efficient method of doing something. now if the mistake is one i've made several times before, obviously something more serious is needed in order to correct the situation, and in such cases i will receive a punishment. punishment could be loss of a privilege or a severe beating, and many things in between.

He knows life happens because well...he's not an asshole. If I didn't do it correctly or at all because he didn't give me all the information I needed and I couldn't do it in a timely manner or couldn't reach him to get the full information then he will tell or show me how to do what needs to be done. Sometimes there's punishment involved, sometimes there isn't...just depends on the circumstances. But like I said the punishment always fits the crime. I do what I can to be the best I can for him but we're both human and both lead pretty normal lives so yeah...shit happens and we just deal with life as it comes along. We have no real set rules..ok, maybe a few, but not many.

If he vehemently promises that he will try harder next time AND do something to make it up to me without me even asking (which he normally does) then I know I control him. Plus, if I know the mistake was out of his control, why would I try to punish him?

When owned i was only punished 3 times. Once for disobedience so i deserved to be punished and twice for mistakes that could have been avoided had i been paying more attention to the situation. Obviously i made more that 2 mistakes but only 2 were serious enought that my MASTERS deemed punishment was in order and it was unpleasant enough for me to not want to be punished again

Something serious or something minor. Thanks! There is a HUGE difference between a mess up and a serial fuck-up. Once you hit serial fuck-up mode it is time to sell your ass.
