I mean this to be a light thread, but I also thought it'd be interesting/fun to request a few rules along with it.

Submissive types:

1. Up to five words or short phrases (short phrase = up to three words, max) on the assets side and up to five words or short phrases on the liabilities side. I provide an example, below.
Asset = an inner trait or characteristic that makes you a good or valuable submissive.
Liability = an inner trait or charactersistic that detracts from your value as a submissive.
Ahem! Note the use of "inner." Even if you are hot as fuck, please avoid physical references.

2. Here is the hard rule: In this thread, only post those ten words or phrases and no more. No explanations. Do not respond if someone comments on your balance sheet. Do not comment on others' balance sheets. Do not comment on others comments about others balance sheets. It's just a game, you can play along or not, as you wish. I just thought it would be fun to try this. I also think participating in another thread that talks about this thread would be cheating, but I am hardcore. ;)

3. Be as honest as you can.

4. Oh yeah, almost forgot! Some submissive traits are assumed "given" in this and you do not have to waste valuable asset (or liability?) slots with them. These traits include devotion/love, loyalty, obedience. If you're a submissive this thread assumes you have these at minimum, or you wouldn't be what you are. Maybe this isn't the brightest assumption to make, but who said this was the brightest of threads? :p Now, if you DO NOT have these traits and wish to mention that fact in the column of your choice, by all means, be my guest!

---------------

Now, Dominant types:

1. Do whatever the hell you want.

2. Commenting would be nice, but it's up to you, of course. Some leading questions:
How closely do the traits expressed by submissive i correlate with your needs j?
Are the liabilities on balance sheet X overweight or underweight when compared to the assets?
Any comments about the specific traits the submissives are mentioning...or their placement?
What do certain traits mean to you? Why are they important or unimportant?

3. You can also try to trick the submissives into replying longer than their ten words, if you wish!

Them's the rules. There will be no further clarifications of these unless some sneaky dominant tricks me into it. :/

Uh... just a little point of order... I'm interested in this thread but I can name quite a few submissives who don't see things like "obedience" as relevant to their dynamic. Ditto with love/devotion, etc.

Really, Jeff? (No, I am not being sarcastic at all.) I can't imagine any sub or slave who doesn't view obedience as part of her/his dynamic. That's why I was glad that Caring excluded it from the original list--I thought everyone's top 2 or 3 assets would be the same if she hadn't. Regardless of the level and extent of obedience, I thought all subs/slaves would consider themselves obedient on at least some level, whether conditional or no limits. At least that has been my experience. Apparently, I do not get out enough--I'm not spontaneous enough for such things.

[b]Oh, and I just realized that, according to Caring's rules, perhaps I should not have commented...? I'm sorry if that is the case, Caring. My apologies!

Interesting!

Never thought about it before, but absolutely certain liabilities outweigh all the brownie points.
Most qualities are two sides of a coin [such as independent might be paired with too aloof], but I see no good coming from low libido, bratty, paranoid, low self-esteem, poor communicator, needy or non-monogamous, so although it appears no male subs have answered as such, these would alllll put the owner on my delete list. Good memory as a negative makes the angels weep.
Some qualities require more info, such as 'has limits': limits are not unexpected and one of those coins, but the limits would have to be elucidated.

But I would also need to see these as pie charts!
I'll think of my latest great sub, who was: 20% each intelligent, funny, kind, passionate; and 5% each too chivalrous, stressed, over-worked, and scarred.
But all of that made him damned well perfect!

What one person would consider assets, another will consider liabilities and vice versa. Hopefully I have no major liabilities or else why is he still with me?

Yeah, I had to wrap my head around it too... honestly the first time I heard it I thought it was a joke. Not so. I've come to understand that for some people, dominance is expressed in the form of "She will do what I want her to do." For others, it's expressed in the form of "I can do what I want to do and she won't call the cops."

I'm in the first camp. Carol and I are obedience based. So between us the expectation is absolute obedience all the time. If I tell Carol to go to bed, I expect her to go to bed. Failure to do so would be the end of our dynamic.... or at least the end of our M/s dynamic.

However, for some other couple, it might be that he tells her to go to bed and she says, "No way!" Then, he grabs her, hauls her into the bedroom, tosses her on the bed and closes and locks the door behind him. In this example, I'm not seeing any obedience whatsoever. To ME, that'd cost Carol her collar. To the couple, there's nothing amiss. He's in charge and he got his way... what's the problem? They're not focused on obedience. They are focused on control.

Nope... not all slaves and submissives have any connection whatsoever to "obedience".

I'm neither obedience wired nor service oriented. My main drive is emotional transparency. I usually do what he asks  but that's simply because I love him and want him to be happy. If for any reason I don't feel up to it, that's fine with him as long as I explain what's wrong. Most D'lg s aren't obedience oriented either.
