North Korea has been acting like a bad boy with his new toys. An uranium enrichment plant. firing on the small island, now firing off shoots randomly. I am concerned about one of our members who does work in south Korea. As far as I can tell...things are ripe for a conflict there. we did not really won the first Korea war, just pulled a few strings and the 38 parallel was created. Now, if we can get China to help out by giving NK a spanking or so, maybe..JUST MAYBE Kim will see the error of his ways. Maybe Kim is just doing what his father has been wanting to do and is just pissing in the wind, showing off what he can and cannot do. Debate among yourselves...

The 38th Parallel existed before the war broke out. And it depends on how you look at the Korean War. The war started when NK invaded SK, intent on conquering it. By defeating the NK and later pushing back and keeping the Chinese in NK, we kept SK a free nation. I'd call that a victory. But going through China has always been the best way to deal with North Korea. During the Korean War, everyone thought Stalin had a direct hand in supporting North Korea. Turns out it was only ever China.

The problem with NK is they have this huge assed army that is decently equipped. the best thing about it is the fact that the country and army is run by a mental defective. We REALLY dont want to remove Kim because his replacement might actually be able to find his ass with both hands, a road map and a funnel. That could get dangerous. Better the devil you know than the devil you dont know.

I can't call it Amerocentric because America is not a country. There is no word. As small as the world is apparently is it a bit smaller for many. Speak of north (a compass direction) and the word KOREA. Now think about south, another compass direction and add the word KOREA. Yes, long ago and far away it was just KOREA. At one time the USA was one country. The south was no longer happy witht he government and decided to secede. By God or something and everything that good and right the north won the war, forcing the would be seceders into submission to the central government. However in KOREA things went for the south. That was also so right and good, that our tax dollars helped make it happen. Subjugating the south here in the USA was also the best thing that ever happened. Let me hear from someone of sufficient age who was born and raised in KOREA before the civil WAR, in which the USA interfered. How bad was it ? Also let's hear from those who would support the south seceding from the USA in our civil war. I don't think the Blacks and Jews would like it here very much if those assholes were in charge. Neither would homosexuals, kinksters or anyone who wasn't on the side of the "right". Might made right, the north won here. Otherwise the north would have not disappeared like some may think, we would just have the south US and the north US. Remeber they were trying to get out of the union, not take it over. The north US would be pissed for a long time at anyone that helped the south gain their independence, and Sherman proved it in Savannah. It's all on one side or the other for most. It comes down to who you believe. If south KOREA is recognized by a bunch of fatcats we don't even know, we support the status quo. If it is not, like Palestine was all the sudden decades ago, then their leaders are all stupid maniacs, and bent on either world conquest or destruction. Mantime our "leaders" are wise and benevolent all the time. Yeah right. T

We now have normalized relations with what was previously the North Vietnamese government. And the country that backed each of those nations, the country that was the evil communist threat trying to take over the world is suddenly OK because corporate America discovered a huge new market for exports and a source of cheap labor for imports.

The US troops were there to bolster Synghman Rhee's government. It was nothing more than a garrison force detached from General MacArthur's forces in Japan, and a badly maintained one at that. You're looking back at history with perfect 20/20 vision. That's not fair to the people and players in that time. Of course now we know that Communism was never as much of a threat as it was made out to be. Russia herself was never as strong as they pretended. The problem during that time was that they didn't know what we know now. Remember, we had just lost China to the Communists, and you had the tensions from the East/West Berlin situation in Europe. There was no way to tell if Korea was a flashpoint in the Cold War or just a diverson.
