Wine, Beer, Whiskey?

Yes, please.  I could leave all the other alcohols by the wayside and be very happy with my wine, beer and whiskey.  I think I'd miss martinis, though.

Here are my favorite drinks.

Crown Royal and Coke the way Timmy the bartender makes them:  triple or quadruple shot, small glass, enough Coke for color, on the rocks.  So good, but I get rowdy when I drink them.
Blue Moon with an orange wedge.
Amberbock. ($3.25 pitchers at Jake's on Tuesdays.  Can't beat it.)
Grey Goose martinis, extra skanky dirty. (I love olives!)
Cabernet Sauvignon, certain Merlots, and Pinot Grigio.
Guinness.
Honey Brown.
Frozen margaritas with extra salt.
Ooohhh, Black and Tans.
Amaretto or Whiskey Sours.
Irish Grasshoppers from Harry's Chocolate Shop on campus.

Damn.  When you're pregnant and can't drink the craving hits your hard sometimes.  LOL.  It usually doesn't bug me.

Can anyone actually tell me what a mojito is?  My husband and I were talking about it the other day, and we couldn't figure it out.  It sounds like it would have tequila in it somewhere.  I suppose I could look in my Mr. Boston drink mixing guide, but it's easier to ask all of you.  It's a nifty sounding drink.

Edited to add: Vodka and cranberry juice, too.  Now that I'm preggie, just cranberry juice.

Just curious....what's your favorite drink? Currently mine is Gin and tonic. Although right now I've drank almost one and half liters of Sangria wine...go me!

Mine is beer. Tyskie actually (Molson Canadian second).

gooddogbenji -> RE: Wine, Beer, Whiskey? (4/29/2006 4:11:44 PM)

Keith's, Kokanee, Sleeman Honey Brown, or Stella,
A nice Cognac (Remy Martin VSOP or XO, Courvoisier VSOP or XO)
Sherry, Oloroso or Amontillado, sometimes a good Fino
Dry Martini, 3 Olives Vodka, 3 Olives, shaken till my hands freeze to the shaker
Caipirinha
Liquid Cocaine
Killer Koolaid
Nice 10 year old amber Rum
Wine, depending on with what, but mostly old world

Whatever she's having.

Yours,

benji

Most of my liquids lately have been green teas with B12.

BUT-- when I have fun it's

Glenlivit Scotch on the rocks (like 99 times out of a 100)
or a Tom Collins (when they don't have Glenlivit)

there's also a rum drink called "Fireman's Sour" that's good if you can get it.  Most bartenders don't know how to do it here in Mississippi.  It's white rum, grenadine, and some other stuff.

BitaTruble -> RE: Wine, Beer, Whiskey? (4/29/2006 5:54:14 PM)

When I'm hot, I like sweet tea, when I'm cold it's coffee.

happypervert -> RE: Wine, Beer, Whiskey? (4/29/2006 6:13:13 PM)

Spaten beer
single malt scotch
tequila with grapefruit juice

MadameDahlia -> RE: Wine, Beer, Whiskey? (4/29/2006 6:29:39 PM)

Shirley Temple
Chocolate Shake
Orange juice (low acid, no pulp!)

I don't partake of the spirits.

Mojito is the BEST summer drink ever....  You'll find a lot of recipes out there, I drink mine as such:

LOTS of ice
2-3 oz White Rum
Fresh mint sprigs
Use ice and straw to crush mint
Soda water to fill

One of those is perfect to just lie around all afternoon, sipping it...  Well, for 5 minutes anyway!

Some people add limes, some brown sugar, and some just don't know the difference between a Mojito and a Caipirinha!

benji

My recipe is a little different than Benji's and I just eyeball it, so my measurements aren't too good.  I fill a double old fashioned glass with ice, put in the juice of two limes, maybe two or three shots of white rum, a teaspoon of white sugar, one or two mint sprigs (maybe six or seven leaves total), mix it up well and crush the mint with a spoon.

They're yummy and help so much in getting along with my Cuban in-laws.  They think I make mojitos to show my interest and appreciation for Cuban culture, and I drink them to help me deal with the in-laws.  In the end, everyone's happy.  [:)]

I love most dry, white wines.  Also like a mimosa, screwdriver, or bloody mary.

As far as non-alcoholic beverages go, I like diet coke with lime or iced tea, especially peach iced tea.

Thats what ya'll call a mojito? You got the right idea...you do muddle the lime juice mint leaves and sugar in the bottom, for best results use cane sugar or cane syrup [<---Best], of not any of that try that sugar in the raw stuff, it's awsome for drinks. Dunno how you make a mojito without it..anyway get plenty of crushed ice and pour in golden rum, for cheap stuff I like usin the Cap'n, for a special treat you put in a floater of seltzer water or club soda, me, I prefer using 7-Up, get a cocktail stirrer and make sure all is combined.

Though it isent my favorite drink, personally I have a bottle of Zacapa rum from Guatamala I hold like a baby. I'm sure someone got an arm chopped off trying to get this stuff lol.

HouseofBear -> RE: Wine, Beer, Whiskey? (5/1/2006 8:56:12 PM)

Coca Cola, Dr. Pepper for non-alcohol

Margarita on the rocks with salt, F*ck in a graveyard (made with cranberry juice, vodka, and several flavors of schnapps, giving it light lavendar color, tastes wonderful and deceptively light in taste, chuckles), Mekeuow Cognac or Corona with lemon

zumala -> RE: Wine, Beer, Whiskey? (5/1/2006 10:12:04 PM)

Um... depends.  I like reisling wines.  White zinfendal is good.

But I'm also a fan of mixed drinks.  I do not drink carbonated stuff (that includes sodas), but I love sweet fruity drinks.  Vodka, tequilla, rum...  Go Starbucks liqour!  Polar Ice is a good brand for vodka, in case anyone's looking for something smooth.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Wine, Beer, Whiskey? (5/1/2006 10:14:34 PM)

I like gin and tonic in the summer, and sangria is delicious.

My favorite drink is probably a Cape Codder, though.

RedRedWine -> RE: Wine, Beer, Whiskey? (5/1/2006 10:16:10 PM)

Margaritas all the way. Regular or strawberries, on the rocks, and salt.
Twisted Smirnoff Cranberry
Tequila and orange soda
Mikes Hard Lemonade.
Ollaliberry Wine
Another wine that's good...I had it last night but can't think of the name.

blacknblueballs -> RE: Wine, Beer, Whiskey? (5/1/2006 10:21:12 PM)
