Hi Lucy,

GT and I have been playing this game of posting image sources back and forth.
The images usually have to do with astronomy or natural phenomena.  Welcome
to the game.  I am glad you liked this find and I hope you contribute when
something interesting comes your way.

GT,

That was cool, thank you.  I didn't even know the military had a smaller
robot shuttle.

The landing movies reminded me of this lecture I attended:
http://online.itp.ucsb.edu/online/plecture/grunsfeld/

He had the best travel movies I have ever seen!!!!

The landing in infrared was what reminded me of your link.  I still
remember the absolute explosion of heat when the wheels made contact
with the runway; from neutral to explosive red instantly.  Obviously the
brakes are linked to the suspension.

The other thing I remember is that Dr. Grunsfeld was a very good speaker
with a great sense of humor.  And an ability to bring the heavy science down
so the rest of us could understand it.

I shot this out of the window of an airplane on a trip back from Florida.....

soultoshare,

I loved the big anvil shaped thunderhead above the other clouds, thank you!

Lucy, I am glad to see you are still visiting the NASA archive.  That is a great site.

Here is another image I love, taken from that archive a couple of years ago.
It is not photoshop, it was taken.  Here is the information about it.  It took
15 months of planning to get it.

Here is the man's homepage with a lot more great pics.  http://www.perseus.gr/

Outlier, that is a beautiful picture!  I love the moon......especially as it just clears the horizon like that.

I took several pics of the clouds...judging by the clouds, I'm guessing that there was some sort of a storm under them.  They just all looked so awesome, so I just clicked away!

Once when I was flying at night, we were flying over a storm, and the lightning was so cool!  You could actually see the bolts traveling from cloud to cloud.  I love storms anyway, but that was the best!  Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera with me, but trying to shoot lightning is like trying to catch, well, um...lightning in a bottle!  [:)]

Outlier, Im lovin it, I have about thirty or more favourites with literally thousands in my collections :) I peruse lots of  sites for my stuff,  I tend to do it in spurts so all these links are purrrfect.
Wondrous nature off an on the planet:)
Thankyou for the shares everyone

Wavelength translation.

The image I posted is really a computer generated image, but it was generated by making visual that which is not. IR and UV, whatever.

The question becomes : Is it less real ?
