quote:

When Ronald Lee Foster, 66, of Beaver Falls, tried to apply for a gun permit about two years ago, he was shocked when he was denied because he was a felon. The retired shift supervisor at Armstrong World Industries had no idea why they would say he had a felony conviction, but then he started thinking about what had seemed like a small offense from almost 50 years ago. In 1963, then-18-year-old Mr. Foster and 16 of his fellow Marines were stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C., and only making $82 a month. They wanted a way to come up with some spare change, so they started cutting off the outer lips of pennies and using them as dimes in the vending machines.

So Obama pardons a former Marine, good job.

He is on the no fly list now---  just asking will do that...

HA!

Obama has done quite a few things right. You are just too biased or too uniformed to recognize them.

TheHeretic -> RE: President Obama finally does something right... (12/4/2010 4:31:52 PM)

He's gotten plenty of things right, Rob (eventually). That trade deal with South Korea seems to come through, with a little help from the DPRK artillery, for example.

As I see it, anyone who runs for the top job has got to have something special or have an extremely thick skin, as everyone know no one can please everyone all of the time.

Any would be president has got to be confident that they are shielded as much as possible from the public mood, or believe they have the answer to everything.

FatDomDaddy -> RE: President Obama finally does something right... (12/4/2010 9:06:37 PM)

Or...

He's making a joke.

subrob1967 -> RE: President Obama finally does something right... (12/4/2010 11:12:52 PM)

Or he just signed them without knowing what he was signing

Brain -> RE: President Obama finally does something right... (12/5/2010 1:31:18 AM)

No, he always knows what he's doing.

He has done a lot of things that were right. Maybe you weren't paying attention?

Careful brain, you do realize you are talking about a christian don't ya? What happened to your stand that no religious people should be allowed to hold an office of power?

Hillwilliam -> RE: President Obama finally does something right... (12/5/2010 5:58:43 AM)

It's ok, boi, the Righties claim he is a Muslim which, to them, is worse than an aetheist.

Sorry, but I have to correct you on this. Most religious people seem to be more comfortable with someone who believes in "the wrong god" than someone who doesn't believe at all.

Not sure if you are aware of this or not, but I am on the right. But don't let that stop you from trying to paint all of us with the same brush. [8|]

servantforuse -> RE: President Obama finally does something right... (12/7/2010 12:31:48 PM)

I'm even starting to like Obama. Gitmo remains open. He is finishing to job in Iraq. More troops have been sent to Afganistan. The 'Patriot Act' has not been changed. All of the Bush tax cuts will remain in place. No one will see a tax increase on January 1st.

mnottertail -> RE: President Obama finally does something right... (12/7/2010 12:40:50 PM)

And on to the next millenium you will see debt.

servantforuse -> RE: President Obama finally does something right... (12/7/2010 12:46:36 PM)

Obama might have to take blame for the debt if he signs the bill.

mnottertail -> RE: President Obama finally does something right... (12/7/2010 12:47:38 PM)

Well, with the house thats coming up, there will be plenty of debt blame to go around.

SexyBossyBBW -> RE: President Obama finally does something right... (12/8/2010 1:55:40 AM)

That's right, it's as if George W never left.   Brilliant!   From a Democrat President with majority in bot houses.    Impotence at it's best.

I can't believe he was being flippant about the lack of public option in that disastrous healthcare bill.   He gave carte blanche to the insurance companies, to bend over the masses, without saying "may I" first, or remorse; because it's the law, and capitalism  (contrived, and monopolist though they may be), is the rule of the day.   Did anyone fail to realize, that without the public option, no amount of money will satisfy the greedy goals of the "for profit" insurance companies?     M

As it stands, he is already taking the blame for everything that's happened in the last ten years regardless of what he signed or not.

When the collapse comes it's important to have the right guy to point the finger at, though. Much more important than trying to prevent the collapse itself, apparently.

Fellow -> RE: President Obama finally does something right... (12/8/2010 2:24:23 PM)

Obama does the right thing considering the circumstances. Bush's biggest mistakes were the government increase and wars, not tax reduction.  Extending all tax cuts was exactly my proposal when the issue came up a week ago on this board. US tax rates are somewhere in the middle range among the developed countries. The income distribution to the top is the most important problem for the US, not  the taxes.  Everybody I know prefers higher income instead of nanny state with poverty wages and government handouts. Income distribution  is what the policies should be directed to.
