I'm trying to think of a day in my life when I HAVEN'T made a stupid mistake. Having now lived 18,562 days, I don't think I've done it yet. I've often said that I hope that on the first day I get through without making a mistake that somebody will bury me before I start to smell bad.
All I can say is that occasionally doing something "beyond dumb" is simply part of being human. All you can do about it is try to make amends with anybody who may have been hurt by it and do your best to learn from so maybe you won't make the same mistake again. Beating yourself up for it accomplishes nothing.
