With respect to knife play, is there any way to simulate, if only very momentarily, the sensation of being cut? I have thought the coldness from putting a prop knife in the freezer before play might trick her mind into thinking she was cut. Any ideas are appreciated.

Please excuse any absurd assumptions of mine; I do not have a lot of experience. While I am a dom by nature, I recognize this does not mean I have an innate knowledge about this craft; I need learned insights.

That should work. As should pouring a little oil on the skin while drawing the blunt side along it. However it will only work a couple of times. After that she'll be expecting it.

I'd forgo a prop knife. The edge is too thick IMHE. An ex of mine used a pen cap on me while I was blindfolded. It's sharp point truly made me think he had a blade at my skin and the fact that it couldn't actually cut meant he could press a lot harder than I was used to - which freaked me out and turned me on.

I'd search for something you can freeze that will have a similar affect. Something long and thin that will fake her into thinking this could cut her without being able to.

Essential: blindfold. Palm a piece of ice (it might be easier if it is wet so it melts faster). In the same hand, take a credit card or id and hold it so the water from the ice runs down the edge. Draw that edge across the skin. The water left behind will feel enough like blood to at least make them doubt. :-)

I've never tried it, so I don't know if it is true...
But a friend of mine used to swear that freezing a metal butter knife would make it feel sharp as sin. It's not sharp enough to cut human skin (unless you pressed REALLY hard anyway..) and the somewhat serrated edge would feel very sharp against the skin - add to all that the coldness of being stuck in a freezer and you've got a pretty sharp feeling object that probably wouldn't really hurt you.

And if you add to that MasterFireMaam's ice/water as blood trick (which sounds totally awesome, btw), I'm sure there'd be plenty of excitement to be had. ;D

Warm the skin up first-a play-partner was *convinced* I was going to slice him open with a (pretty blunt) claw ring when I dragged it over the marks left from some clothespegs, even though he'd tested the edge of the ring himself an hour before. I reckon anything which sensitises the area would have the same effect.

Use the flip side of a scalpel. It especially works as a great mind fuck if you are good at sleight of hand.

A good point to mention is that the more sensitive the area is to begin with, the easier it is to fool someone.  Add to that the advice already given about warming it up with some kind of impact play perhaps, ice cold metal, and a bit of wetness, it is the recipe for a great mindfuck.  If you want to do this without a blindfold, practice flipping a real knife capable of cutting to it blunt edge such that it cannot be felt.  Doing it just out of the line of vision and with a careful, delicate motion will result in something intoxicatingly close to true fear.  Yummy.

Fuck with their mind, too. When you're bound spread-eagled, face-down, and someone tells you with a no-nonsense tone of voice, "Now, whatever the fuck you do, DON'T MOVE!!!" and you feel a knife inserted into your vagina, then they say, "Shit!!! I told you not to move!", trust me, you don't move!

Later, you find it it was a frozen old, dull butter knife and he's a good actor [:)]
