Toppingfrmbottom -> Sewing machine aggrivation. (12/5/2010 7:38:44 PM)

I decided even though I was feeling really apathetic about it, to go an do an experiment on my sewing machine, but first I had to wind the bobbin, at first I couldn't get it to wind, it just wouldn't spin, and then it did spin but quickly got all fucked up an now I am either going to have to hand un roll it all, or pitch it.

I'm just going to start buying prethread bobbins, in those kits, This isn't the first time the bobbin wound improperly even though I was doing what I was supposed to do to wind it.

I'd offer to sacrifice something to the sewing machine Gods but all I have are my pets. I could sculpt some little people out of some gooey chocolate I have leftover from fondue and melt that in the microwave... think that would help?

Hmmm... What brand is it? Is it one of those odd ones where (weirdly) turning the bobbin up the other way helps? It's totally nonsensical, the bobbin should be the Same both ways up, but on one of my machines, if you stop and turn the bobbin upside down, it works better.

It's a brothers, I think, and I don't think turning it upside down would help, , there's gotta be something I am doing wrong, from the wrong kind of bobbin, the ones that came with my machine, they have a round small hole, an the one I was trying to wind yesterday had a square hole. I'll have to refer to the manual when I am in the mood to study it and futx with getting it figured out, or, like I said buy some prewound ones lol.

I think you just hit on it, something as insignificant as the wrong kind of bobbin and a square hole can totally flip the machine and the bobbin out. You can usually get replacement bobbins for a couple bucks in WalMart or K-mart.

Then it shall be done!

Also, I shall dip my fruit in their remains. [:D]

I bought a pack of bobbins today, an I made sure they had the circle, not the square opening. I am still gonna get pre threaded ones, cause it's a handy tool to have, but I will also try to learn why my attempts to wind are going wrong, because I need to learn my machine too.

I would get the model number from the machine and buy the correct bobbin. Also make sure you have new thread. When thread gets old it will cause you problems..

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Sewing machine aggrivation. (12/6/2010 8:57:22 PM)

servantforuse You don't need the modle number to buy bobbins, not that I have ever heard for your average sewing machineYou look at the kind that came with the machine, an you get the kind that look like it. When I bought the square hole bobbins I wasn't paying attention, so I got the wrong ones. I paid attention this time lol.

Oh and if you have a computerized machine my sewing instructor said not to use the coats and clarks brand of thread, because it supposedly sheds a lot of fibers an stuff more than the other brands of thread out there, and it's bad for your machine.
