We are here because we are everywhere, for we are legion.  Bold and resolute are our ranks, ready to crush the Godless forces of communism wherever they might rear their ugly heads.

Or in some cases, their pretty heads.  Some of those communists . . .  well, they can seize my means of production any day, if you know what I mean.

Well, I don't know how to break this to you but ...

The Russians and the Chinese started giving up the communism thing about the time you were born, and were dusting their hands off as you started kindergarten. From your post I wonder if you made it much beyond that. I know that having enemies is priority one for some (thankfully not all) self-professed conservatives, but do try to keep your list up to date.

But I realize that the addictive adrenalin rush of paranoia renders keeping up with such details as being a nuisance.

why are social conservative's on Collarme?

Just to piss you off, Charles.

I don't see any contradiction between socially conservative values and monogamous kink, but then, I'm not very conservative on the social side of the house. Hell, I'm more liberal than a lot of liberals on some of those issues

Keeping a civil tongue won't damage you in the least.

I did get the point of the OP.  His premise is that conservatives are intolerant of kink,  His definition of conservative is that of a neocon, who believes that government should be peeping in people's lives.  I have rejected that definition elsewhere, and consider it too monolotihic in today's world.

TRADITIONAL conservatives are more likely to fight government intrusion that anyone else.

There are many different shades of "conservative".  For example, even though you consider me a diehard con, I actually consider myself a liberal based on my upbringing and thought processes, and the fact that I don't get along with traditional conservatives OR neocons.  *Shudder*

That's only what the commies want us to think.

The red menace lurks in the shadows, around every corner, and under every tree.  Especially apple trees.  The kind with red apples, anyway.  Filthy, communist red apples, poisoning our youth.

We all thought they were beaten, but they're back, and they're slowly infiltrating our government.  They've already got the Oval Office, the Senate, the Department of Education, HUD, and while I'm at it, I guess I'll throw in the Department of Energy for all of that renewable hogwash.

I only hope America can come to its senses before it's too late.

No his point is that a party led by Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney is diametrically opposed to the idea of kink whether it is monogomous or not. He is asking those that are socially conservative....ie the Christian Right how theys square their views with their own kink. As to fiscal conservatives he pulls them out of the discussion entirely. Yet, strict fiscal conservatives don't exist in todays Republican Party.

Some folks dont seem to realize that not all D/s lifestylers are into kink. The 50's household, woman that stays home, cooks and cleans and submits to her man's decisions in all aspects of daily life has nothing to do with kinky sex. In fact, that is one of the tenets of the Southern Baptist Convention.

About as far from kinky sex as you can get.

If you really think that conservatives are more intrusive in your daily life you are notpaying attention. It is the liberals that are trying to micromanage our lives. Try to get a toy in your happy meal in San Francisco ? Just one example of many.

I agree.  Let's get rid of all the conservatives.  Also the liberals, commies, socialists, libertarians, and anarchists.  While we're at it, axe the Dems, Repubs, and Independents too.

Seriously, dude, being tolerant does not necessarily equate to being liberal.

Geez, DS, don't you get it?

Only "liberals" are righteous, intelligent and tolerant.

Anyone who doesn't agree with their ideology and world-view is obviously a right-wing, Nazi-sympathizing Neanderthal who doesn't have the right to breath the same air or walk the earth with our "liberal" enlightened brethren.

Scum, in other words.  They all need to be put into the re-education camps, where (maybe, perhaps) one or two may be redeemable. The rest will be better off not polluting the gene pool, or dirtying Mother Gia with their effluence.

then you must be furious with arizona cutting those people off the transplant list and condemming them to certain death then.
Oh hang on no...stopping happy meals is far more intrustive and micromanaging people in a far more sinister way

This post dosen't apply to Libertarian's or fiscal conservative's.
So that means it applies to those who consider themselves conservative in at least some of the social strata.
quote:

What I wonder is why are so called "social-conservative's" even on this website?
How many have you found, Charles?  How many conservatives on here stand up and state "I am a Social Conservative as well as a fiscal conservative?  Not too many, from what I recall.
Here's a surprise for you...some of us conservatives don't take kindly to every plank on the conservative platform.  Horrors!  Just as some liberals don't approve of Obama's too fast/too slow swing to socialism.  Horrors!!  Yes, Charles...even the conservatives are not some mono-minded, robotic followers.  Some of us embrace all aspects of social conservatism and some do not.  One example.  I do embrace the "traditional, socially conservative" view that there has to be a leader in a relationship dynamic.  ((Ironically, so do the many "liberal" male dominants on here.  Does that now make them socially conservative...since they embrace the idea that someone should lead a relationship and, horror of horrors, in their mind it should be them (a man)?))  Yet, I support abortion.  GASP!!!  But, so you don't need to be brought back from cardiac arrest...I support abortion with limitations, as spelled out by me on other threads.  Another example.  I don't care if Jim wants to fuck Joe or if Judy wants to fist Sheila...go for it.  If they want to form a union and live together, go for it.  I DO think fighting the church is not going to get homosexuals or bisexuals anywhere.  Too much influence of all churches over society and too much adherence to THEIR traditions or beliefs.  Work at forcing the government to be what it states it is...all-inclusive, including gay rights.  But, I find the military to be a separate entity from a typical corporate structure.  While the non-military workplace should be non-discriminatory, the military should be what works best as decided by those who LIVE and work within that structure.
quote:

The Sarah Palin loving crowd would probaly be shocked to find out she would probaly find you to be a sinner. The far right holy roller's you people vote for find this lifestyle to be a evil sin.
Only us?  Is that why a liberal D. A. in New York almost made it her "mission" to ensure that a woman could NOT consent to any form of physical assault, including that which occurs within BDSM play?  I could care less what Sarah Palin or Barack Obama or anyone in politics thinks about what I do in my personal life as I care little what others consent to in their personal life.  Little...not no concern, especially when what they do might cost ME but that is fiscal conservatism, not social conservatism.
quote:

That's who control's a good part of the Republican party. They want to tell you what's best for you in your personal life.
There've already been some good examples of how liberals want to run your life...let me reiterate my own example of the D. A. and add in...transfat police, toilet paper police (hello, Sheryl Crow), carbon footprint police governing your use of energy (hello, Al Gore) and health insurance police (hello to the crowd that wants to insist that I carry insurance on my children until they are 26 even though my children...and I am sure the children of many others here...have been telling me repeatedly since they were 18, and more so since they hit 21, that they are an adult and don't NEED to follow my instructions or lessons or guidance).
quote:

Redeem yourself now!You really want someone like Sarah Palin to ruin,I mean, run this country?Everyone has a right to believe or not believe anything they want.Just don't try and shove your belief's on me.
Then you might want to speak to Obama, Gore, Michael Moore, Sheryl Crowe, Al Franken and others within your own party.
quote:

I wouldn't vote for someone who view's the White House as a tool to force their belief's on the rest of the country.Again, why are social conservative's on Collarme?
If you voted for Obama and the rest of the Democratic slate...you already DID vote for those who want to force their beliefs on you...because they know what is best for you, what is best for society.

If you don't support everything a party believes in, why the fuck do you vote for them, for by voting for them, you are giving license to what they believe you all want.

Do you see why we in Britain vote for the lesser of all evils, the party that stands least chance of messing up our lives too much, for we are all really secret conservatives, in that we don't want others to make our lives worse if they can't be made better. We cry for change, but the reality is, we don't want it as we are used to and in some cases have adapted to the status quo.

False, he's referring to the subset of conservatives that are opposed to kink and asking members of that subset who are also kinky, wtf how does that work?

Now he was kind of a dick about it and is getting dickish responses back, which is unfortunate, but there is a question in there that I'm interested in hearing answers to and hopeful that we can have an actual discussion about.

How do antikink kinksters reconcile their positions, it's like Ted Haggard being antigay; wtf how does that work?

Actually, you are right...he was referring to social conservatives.  The problem with that is this...NOT all those who may identify as social conservatives follow every single plank of the social conservative platform anymore than do all democrats adhere to every single socially progressive brick in their wall and yet, that seems to be Charles' opinion,

quote:

You are operating from the same mindset as Charles...that conservative or, socially conservative, equates to anti-kink.  I've explained some of my positioning on this above.  I am sure that other for-kink conservatives can explain themselves.  But to reflect Charles thinking...and what, on the surface at least, appears to be your own...how does a liberal dominant male reconcile his position that a relationship even NEEDS a leader, let alone a dominant male?

Replying to the discussion ...

All this talk of some alleged conflict between political slant and personal choice of recreational mayhem is starting to make me nervous here.

One fantasy I find somewhat entertainng would involve having a Domme who is chair of the local Republican party and who also works for Diebold, so she get's access to my ballot and she catches me voting for a Democrat (just one! "but I couldn't help it Ms. Flogswell! She's my niece!") and she comes home and whips me mercilessly.

This would serve purpose of both my kink and what her r/l inclination would be in such a scenario, so I don't see the conflict here.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry, I kept waiting for someone with better imagination than I to come up with something like this, which I thought would've happened long before this far into the thread.
