I'd say my oldest talks fluent horse, but that's a nonverbal language mostly. Although she did have a horse she trained to verbal commands. It was actually a problem at shows and cost her points as the horse would change gaits before the command came over the PA system, he'd hear the judge say it and do it on his own too early.

I speak American and Irish fluently [;)]
Seriously though, I speak Farsi, very rusty Spanish and Italian. My partners pretty good at French.

SadisticMissA -> RE: What foreign (non-native) languages do you speak? (12/7/2010 2:46:27 AM)

I speak Duetsch on an intermediate level (though I am always very nervous speaking it).  My husband speaks English (which is Deutsch is his Mother tongue), Italian, French, some Czech, and some Magyar. He's got a real ear for languages, and picks then up quickly.

Once I've mastered German, I will learn Dutch, and then Italian.

German is my mother tongue, I like to believe I speak a pretty decent English, I get by in Dutch, Italian, and French. Both my Latin an Ancient Greek are very rusty remnants from school.
And I speak Kölsch, of course.

GreedyTop -> RE: What foreign (non-native) languages do you speak? (12/7/2010 4:23:22 AM)

LadyConstanze -> RE: What foreign (non-native) languages do you speak? (12/7/2010 6:51:07 AM)

Italian - fluent but never learned to write it, basically my first language
German - perfect as I went to school in Germany and got one of my university degrees there
French, I get by though my Grammar and spelling is close to atrocious but I can hold a conversation
Irish Gaelic, enough for a pub conversation or to insult somebody mortally
Welsh - few bits and bobs, small talk and a few insults (I always seem to pick them up easily) but that is one language I will never attempt to really speak, my throat can't take it...
Spanish - enough to get by but I think I sound a bit like an idiot who mangles grammar
Russian - very basic, the usual touristy stuff of asking for something saying thank you, etc.

Marc2b -> RE: What foreign (non-native) languages do you speak? (12/7/2010 1:06:36 PM)

When it comes to foriegn languages there are two phrase that are absolutely essential:
"Where is the bathroom?"
"Thank you."

I can speak a spattering of Spanish, Gorean, and Klingon.

I can count to ten in Japanese (I took karate lessons when I was a kid).

I am currently learning four-year-old from my grand niece:

Niece: "Uncle Marc, do you hang Jews?"

Marc: "What?! No, of course not! I'm not anti-semetic! I've never hanged anybody! I would never do such a thing! Okay, I did punch a Jehovah's Witness once, but the annyoing prat had it coming."

Niece: "You don't hang Jews?"

Marc: "No! Never!"

My Sister: "She's asking you if you 'have juice.' You know, like those little juice boxes?"

Marc: "Oh."

I wish I could speak Slovakian. My mother is Slovakian but her parents were new immigrants here and they never allowed her to learn the language which saddens me.

unDEAD -> RE: What foreign (non-native) languages do you speak? (12/7/2010 7:57:41 PM)

Russian was my first. Armenian my second (sort of. I picked up a little, but learned to speak fluently after I learned English). I sort of know broken Spanish. At least enough for work. I wish I had a Babel Fish!

SirPumpy -> RE: What foreign (non-native) languages do you speak? (12/8/2010 1:19:39 AM)

I speak Strine, English (English) English (American) English (Australian), Dutch was my first language and I get by on Seth Affrikaans although the whole punctuating sentences with a big stick has me a bit tired after a good conversation.

My German is rusty, Spanish very bad and I have passable tourist levels in French, 6 kinds of Scottish and Welsh although I try to not speak Welsh as it is dangerous and I always get a tongue cramp.

For those of you who wish to nit pick at my listing 4 kinds of English (Strine is a form) try writing articles for world wide audiences using just one form of Eeeengleesh and see how it all goes down.

Oh before I forget, I understand Joisey fairly well with thanks to HBO for the education. (Home Box Office you ignorant coolie!)

Oh and Redneck (which I love) Compliments of the Blue collar boys.

SexyBossyBBW -> RE: What foreign (non-native) languages do you speak? (12/8/2010 2:26:43 AM)

I speak nice accent, but very limited vocabulary French; Speak fair Portuguese, Mostly fluent/fluid in American English.   There is one other, I'm fairly fluid in, but it's unofficial yet.   M
