ORIGINAL: Owlet Having played off and on since 'nilla WoW, I'm very impressed with this expansion. The quests flow beautifully and they're far less grindy. I find myself stopping to read my quests because I'm simply enjoying the story. The new dungeons are challenging and fun--Yay for using CC in dungeons again! The Goblin starting zone is, in my opinion, one of the best designed zones in the game. Too bad it's instanced and you can't go back. :( And holy shit, flying in old Azeroth is great! The only thing I'm truly annoyed with is that Blizz has nerfed Engineering into oblivion again. Grr... quote:
ORIGINAL: NocturnalStalker Warriors are the only viable melee. Warriors are only viable if they have a pocket healer--The way it's been since vanilla WoW. They're still the most gear dependent class in the game, too. And Prot PvP isn't viable any more. But, I agree, rogues aren't in the best spot right now, but at least they're adjusting things. Envenom hits much harder and Bandit's Guile actually works now. Unfortunately, it looks to me like rogues are going to have to gem Stam again for PvP and that ticks me off. Now if only they'd baseline Shadowstep... Still my favorite class though. The balance problems are going to persist for a few weeks until more people get to 85 and they can monitor what abilities are way OP and what ones just blow. Yes they are the most dependent on gear, which as history has shown how terrifying they become by the end of an expansion's lifespan. Mind you, before I quit was when 4.0 had hit and I never lost to a Warrior (with or without Shadowmourne/Wrathful gear) so it is kind of a showcase of both extremes. Though, with the large health pools and wanting more methodical battles, you have to wonder why they'd nerf Mortal Strike/Wound Poison since it seems like games will become another mana war. It's most likely different at 85, but Rogues were actually feeling enjoyable again. To me it seems that a Rogues fun is whether or not Subtlety is actually viable. I really wish they knew how to make Combat & Assassination more enjoyable but it seems impossible. Half the problem is lack of mobility from no Shadowstep, but if they did give that then what do you do to compensate Subtlety with? I think the larger problem is Shadow Dance needs to be removed/replaced, or redesigned. Cheap Shot is an inferior stun to Kidney Shot (and DR's now with eachother, so why even use CS now if you got CP's for a KS?), Ambush barely does more damage than Backstab, the only thing carrying it is Garrote's glyphed five second silence and the fact it's bleed effect synergizes with Sanguinary Vein. True, you renew Find Weakness but still...Shadow Dance gets stuffed so easily by people with on-demand crowd control it's almost useless when fighting players that know their spellbooks. I trust Blizzard will do what they've always done with BC/WOTLK: make a bunch of pre-emptive buffs/nerfs and stick to them, then in a few seasons when Class A has no chance killing Class B, yet Class C is unstoppable, it'll be like 2009 all over again. Remember how Death Knights started out, then ended? They went from having huge burst potential to having the most pathetic-looking Scourge Strike criticals. Hopefully they can find a middle-ground, but as history has shown I wouldn't hold my breath. Hope those revised vanilla quests are good, you may have to level up alts of every class to be optimal.
