Stanley Steamer? Set the record for the fastest mile for automobiles in 1906 and the record wasn't broken until five years later... the internal combustion engine developed into a cheaper technology and was continued to be backed from then. Though the story of diesel is interesting as well... Anyway, cool idea...and definitely blends the two genres well.
