It disgusts me that our respective economic systems over-reward some, whilst others live in poverty. Damn right he should be giving some of that money away - what would anyone want with billions? Once a person is stupidly wealthy, any additional millions of dollars heaped onto them are surely just a fucking irrelevance to them and an insult to the rest of us.

That's a bit strong don't you think? I hated those people that obtained 500+ merits at school, in five years all I ever got was a lowly 25 merits. I think they should give some of those merits they have to charity because I can't afford to give mine away...oh no.

I thought it was quite straight forward... Anyone can make donations and kindness isn't based on the percentage of your wallet that you give away.

You arent the arbiter of who is or isnt over-rewarded. In a largely free-market system it is IMPOSSIBLE for someone to be "over-rewarded".

Generosity is not something anyone should have to explain or apologize for. It's a great virtue. It isn't directed towards you, so it makes no difference that you seemingly don't know to graciously accept. There are many, many ways to burn one's money, if one wants to. These people clearly have a lot of money, but don't tell me they're giving it away to charities, because they can't think of anything to do with it. Have you heard of 100 million dollar houses, boats, clothing, paintings? All a huge waste, inhumane conspicuous consumption is in vogue, didn't you know? I find the humanity of these wealthy people inspiring... In fact, it's the only time I love wealthy people; when they also happen to be kind, generous, and humane (redundant, I know). M

After I will get my first billion, I will be ready to join. The estate tax will be back to 55% soon. Paying it as a charitable donation would be cool. Their "giving away" often means setting up a trust fund for charitable cause (they still own it).
