TreasureKY -> Ron Paul Taking a Lead... (12/13/2010 6:02:09 PM)

Rep. Ron Paul, G.O.P. Loner, Comes In From Cold

quote:

After years of blocking him from a leadership position, Mr. Paul’s fellow Republicans have named him chairman of the House subcommittee on domestic monetary policy, which oversees the Federal Reserve as well as the currency and the valuation of the dollar.

Mr. Paul has strong views on those issues.  He has written a book called “End the Fed”; he embraces Austrian economic thought, which holds that the government has no role in regulating the economy; and he advocates a return to the gold standard.

This should be interesting...

Hopefully he stays off of airplanes....

Indeed it should.

Although I don't agree with all of his views, I've always considered him to be a man of integrity. If it eventually proves that even he can be bought, I will lose more faith in humanity.

"interesting" is a good way to put it.  The Fed has been claiming more and more power in recent years, as Paul has been advocating giving them less and less.  Let's see if he is given the actual ability to change things.

I like Ron Paul.I don't agree with him on everything but I do respect the guy.

NeedToUseYou -> RE: Ron Paul Taking a Lead... (12/14/2010 1:44:33 AM)

Yeah, they didn't want to give it to him, they are just scared of nut jobs like me, sabotaging anyone that stopped it.

HEHE, I'm already working on his presidential run... If he runs next time, do not expect a meow like last time. Preparations are already being made (well ahead of last time). I've personally been working for a month now on efforts towards 2012.

I was playing in the beginning, the mood all changed (to quote eminem).

The Average Republican candidate should actually learn something and be fiscally conservative for a change, then I'd have more candidates to vote for and support.

So, the campaign begins for me and some others months ago. Obama is toast, and his only hope is the republicans self destructing by nominating a neo-con, because if they do all I'll work on 7 days a week is ripping republicans down with a broad stroke, and hold my nose and vote for Obamas ass.

I'm in a position this time to where I literally can spend if I chose to 24 hours 7 days a week minus sleep on this from now until the elections .

Republicans still don't accept the writing on the wall, that they either must redefine themselves into something respectable or be made irrelevant.

First test is a month away.

2012 will be the most nation splitting election, this country has had in decades.

2012, the soul of the republican party will be put on trial, unless they move in the proper direction.

LOL, over the top a little, a bit off topic, but I'm pumped already to expose the hypocrites.

Ramble, Ramble, Ramble.
hehe.

Hey Need,   I don't think he wants to be president. I do think he will run tho so as to sway the debate- the agenda.

He is more interested in his ideas taking hold then some sort of title.

Even if he ended it all today- his legacy is top rate.    A historical figure.   His voting record backs up his talk.

joether -> RE: Ron Paul Taking a Lead... (12/14/2010 11:05:49 AM)

I dont agree with the majority of Rep. Ron Paul's arguements or ideas. Some I do, and that's common ground. For the most part, the guy does have intergity. The only blemish to that concept, is the guy is for term limits, yet, has been in his position for 13 years. Exactly what are term limits suppose to be to someone serving beyond his own interpetion of term limits (its like 6-8 to him)?

He has a philosophy that is a mixture of Republican and Liberitarian. He isn't stupid, dim, or spineless like most of his fellow Republicans in the House. And he would divide this country alittle more if elected President of the United States. Not as fast or deep a divide as say, Sarah Palin, but a divide. Is that really what Republicans want of this nation? Is that what conservatives really want?

No, I think I'd agree with pahunkboy on this one, he's not in it for the title, but to set an agenda for the country (for better or worst).

I liked him in the movie Bruno.

GotSteel -> RE: Ron Paul Taking a Lead... (12/14/2010 11:09:50 AM)

I prefer candidates with a better grasp of reality.

Yeah, I look for leaders who are taking us toward, not away.

Or more succinctly, who have a plan, not just criticisms.

Or lets see if he learns more about it than he reads on mises.org and achieves a better understanding of their role.

Interesting.  I would like to see if from Paul himself.  On the blood tainting- there was a faction of gay who gave blood just to get the free HIV test.

I am not alarmed by this video.    I have seen him in enough vids- debates- and I read his books too.

Unless we have proper monetary policy-- anything else is a mute point.

Are you suggesting that you have a better understanding of the Fed's role than Dr. Paul does?

I agree that plans are just as important as criticisms, but it seems to me that we don't even have a majority that agrees upon what the problems are. This being the case, one can hardly expect a majority to agree upon any solutions.

no, nobody missed them, they were not in any wise a mandate or an alarming thing.  the bluedogs tossed after their round and all these clowns will be tossed after theirs.

Why, did you think something big happened?
