Most of us love some Christmas songs, but occasionally a song comes on that makes us wince.  Pretty much every artist want to get a Christmas song in because they will get recycled every year.  Which one is yours if you have one?

One I can't stand is "Last Christmas I gave you my heart" which was originally a song "Why did you" and was "Last night I gave you my heart".  An uninspired rewrite of a mediocre song.

I have an album from about 1968, a compilation. On it is a song by a children's choir. I have to admit the vocals really do kick ass. I couldn't hit notes that high with my balls tied to my neck. I couldn't get within two octaves at gunpoint.

They do Silent Night, and one other on the album. The solo part gives me the creeps right in the spinal cord. It makes me want to run and hide.

It doesn't matter that it is a really well done piece of music, it still makes me wish I was an exoskeleton being. Even at that it's like getting dragged across the blackboard like Mrs. Sanger's fingernails in fourth grade.

The "doctor" prescribed four hours of Judas Priest, Ronnie James Dio and Black Sabbath to counter the effects. It's taken 353 days to cure, but another of these almost lethal exposures may occur this year, and I'll be back where I started.

"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas".

I absolutely hate snow and dreaming of it is more like a nightmare to me.

I think I can go the rest of my days without hearing any version of "Santa Baby"...

Seriously.

Is a fish better?

I got a big obnoxious fish for Christmas,
And if I find out who it's from I'll sue:
Yeah, it's amusing
Once, maybe twice:
But when you've heard it all day long, a hammer would be nice!

I got a big obnoxious fish for Christmas,
And now I'm at a loss for what to do:
I thought "hooray!",
I'd silenced it-- but then
Some fool came along and put the batteries back in!

Why did I not just skip town for Christmas?!?--
This thing's got me scared...
Oh, I knew it wasn't socks when I opened up the box,
And had a coronary then and there...

I got a big obnoxious fish for Christmas,
But how do I return it? Tell me true...
Everybody sells 'em,
Much to my distress,
And where I'd go with no receipt is anybody's guess!

If I had my way, I'd get a hacksaw:
Fish bits everywhere!!!
I'd prefer the chicken pox to the fish inside the box,
What a big pain in my derriere!

I got a big obnoxious fish for Christmas,
I guess I'll hafta keep it looking new...
Gotta save the box,
And all the other crap,
Put it in the closet with the rolls of Christmas wrap...
So next year I can pass it on to you!!!

Seconded. Any time I hear that song, I have to make a frenzy check or dissolve into a nigh-incoherent rant about it. Kitten loves to tease me by humming a few bars and watch me start to froth.

YoungBlondeSlave -> RE: Christmas songs we hate (12/14/2010 1:09:54 AM)

It's not any one song in particular for me, but it's the fact that you get inundated by it for almost six weeks. When i went to visit my parents for Thanksgiving there was a radio station that played *ONLY* Christmas music.

This was discovered when i went to the gym with my Dad and was forced to listen to it, after around 45 minutes i was damn near homicidal and my Dad laughed at me while listening to his iPod.

I like quite a few Christmas songs but yes; that one should be consigned to the "you hum it and I'll smash your face in" bin.

I'd also add Paul McCartney's "Simply Having A Wonderful Christmastime" to the Hall Of Shame.

HERESY!! They're both fine songs, the latter evoking fond memories of childhood Christmases, the former of the first time I saw a Sexy Santa Striptease.

I LOVE Santa Baby...  Eartha Kitt was a wonder of sensuality even into her 70s.

Anything with Jeff Foxworthy.  He "sings" some ridiculous redneck xmas song...
and that grandma got run over by a reindeer nonsense. [sm=beatdeadhorse.gif]

Blech.  [:'(]

That stooopid barking dog version of Jingle Bells.

I pretty much hate all holiday themed music.

Elvis singing "Blue Christmas" makes me want to stick an ice pick in My ears.

subinlife -> RE: Christmas songs we hate (12/14/2010 8:48:12 AM)

Jingle Bells, in any way shape or form.
It has been played to death.

I agree with Blue Christmas, yuck.

windchymes -> RE: Christmas songs we hate (12/14/2010 8:58:31 AM)

"I'll Be Home for Christmas" totally butchered by Crissy Hynde.
