Riots break out in Rome
Protesters set fire to cars, threw paint and smoke bombs at the Italian parliament and clashed with riot police today in Rome's worst violence for years after prime minister Silvio Berlusconi survived a confidence vote. Via del Corso, the main street stretching through the historic centre, near Mr Berlusconi's office and home to some of the capital's smartest shops, was a battle scene of smoke, teargas and bloodied faces.

Berlusconi is one of that generation of fatally flawed politicians we made the mistake of electing over and over again. Bliar, Bush, Berlusconi. Bent Bastards.

heh.

Honestly, I've never seen anyone put as much effort into making themselves look a 24 carat plonker as he does, 24/7/365.

You've got love Berlusconi though - anyone with even a shred of shame or dignity would have retired long before now, but he just plods on, regardless of what scandal it is this week.

In one of the more incredible ones, when he was caught giving expensive “gifts” to an attractive young girl of dubious employment history (i.e. a hooker in all but name), in return for her "friendly attentions", his reaction wasn’t “Oh no! I’ve been caught with my trousers down! I’ll have to resign!” or “What will this do to my and Italy’s reputation?!”, it was “At least I’m a red blooded man and not a homosexual like so many of the Opposition!”

A mate and I once sat around one evening trying to work out what would make him resign ... in the end the best we could come up with was him shagging Princess Di’s corpse up the arse while a panda pissed on them both, then once he'd shot his load, killing the panda and eating its testicles on toast ...

... then we looked at each other and said ... “naaahhhh ... he wouldn’t go even then”

This is the result of so much socialism that people feel they have a right to other people's wealth. The same is likely to happen in the USA. Look at how many hipster doofuses voted for Dear Leader and now regret it. Duh. There was enough on this guy to question, but the mainstream press were soooo in love. Chris Matthews still gets a tingle up his leg. Or down his leg. Whatever.

You've made the dumbest post in a thread started by pah. You must be so proud.

And of course, thoroughly non-stick ... who was that mafia figure they called "The Teflon Don" because nothing thrown at him ever stuck?

John Gotti?
