I knew I was going to be embarrassed when it got clarifed!

But I did have to snicker a bit over the way she refused to be made into mince meat pie by Katie Couric.

Couric didn't have to, watch it again.

Rice did it to herself with those rambling, senseless explanations.

mnottertail -> RE: Condi Rice Schools Katie Couric On Iraq (12/14/2010 2:43:14 PM)

I watched the entire clip, and didnt hear anything but Condi soundbites.

And widely broadcast AT THE TIME in the media, that the DIA said uh uh.

wilbur is horseshitting around as usual, it wasn't on Rush or fucks entertainment channel. So he had no idea of anything else happening in the world other than what he was sucking out of Rushes ass.

To say nothing of the DIA.

DIA?

Defense Intelligence Agency. Dont bother, its just Ron not bothering to watch the clip and clinging to HuffPo soundbites.

The role of the DIA is relevant to the discussion and you are either too ignorant to know what he is referring to or too lazy to research it, and I'm done trying to find links to point out what you don't know Willbeur.

It's starting to occupy my every waking moment.

Now she (Rice) wants to claim that there was no way of knowing if Iraq had WMD's ...

Now there is a logic impossible to argue with, no?

"well, I was standing there holding my shotgun, and I saw this guy standing not far away and I couldn't tell if he had a gun or not. I asked a couple of people who walked by if he had a gun or not and all I got was "I didn't see one" or "I couldn't tell" or so forth. I couldn't get a definitive answer from anybody so I had no way of knowing. So I blasted the MF."

That would work in any court of law I'm sure, state federal or international.

Thanks for finding this very cogent argument for doing what was done.  I particularly liked the quote of Ms. Rice about what you know today can't affect what you did yesterday.  Hindsight is always 20/20.

Indeed.

Condi Rice Schools Katie Couric On Iraq

6:21 of Katie Couric hearing what she (and many others) don't want to hear.

Well worth watching, I think.

Firm

Since when was an out right fucking lie "a schooling"??

One of the following statements has to logically be a lie.  You decide which is.  As it stands Powell resigned over his lie.

"I think we ought to declare it [containment policy] a success. We've kept him contained, kept him in his box, he is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors, he threatens not the United States." C. Powell 2-24-01

"I cannot tell you everything that we know,"  "But what I can share with you, when combined with what all of us have learned over the years, is deeply troubling."  Powell before the UN 5 Feb 2003

A nuclear program is not restarted from scratch in 350 days with out there being major evidence.  NO  EVIDENCE has ever been produced. Let me repeat that NO EVIDENCE of the restart of a nuclear program has ever been produced.  The fucking chemical warfare shells we found amounted to two 5lb artillery shells of Sarin that had broken down and was pretty much incapable of inflicting any damage.  James Baker among others told President Cheney and his pet macaque that invading Iraq was NOT necessary, but they went their merry fucking way causing over 4500 young men & women to lose their lives.

Condiliar is still covering the ass of her foot slave from what I see.

Hindsight ?  Scott Ritter and his team knew there were no WMD`s in Iraq long before the invasion and said as much.

End result 750,000 dead, and thats just civilians. All based on a lie perpetuated by the Governments of the UK and US. Incidentally both Bush and Blair have since backtracked on these claims and passed the blame onto the intelligence services.

Firm and company, if anyone doesnt wish to hear the truth, it seems like it`s you.

Is Firm viewing this using his confirmation bias or his ideological blinders?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I've always said that the ultimate success or failure of the Iraq war couldn't be determined within a short span of time such as a few years, or perhaps even a few decades.  Too much ideological and political hay to be made.

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: Condi Rice Schools Katie Couric On Iraq (12/14/2010 5:59:48 PM)

What a lying little bitch. Total bullshit.

"Gee, nobody could ever be 100%  sure about anything, but then we never said we were."

quote:

"There can be no doubt that Saddam Hussein has biological weapons and the capability to rapidly produce more, many more. Our conservative estimate is that Iraq today has a stockpile of between 100 and 500 tons of chemical weapons agent. That is enough agent to fill 16,000 battlefield rockets." - Colin Powell, 2/5/03

quote:

"[Saddam has] amassed large, clandestine stockpiles of biological weapons, including Anthrax, botulism, toxins and possibly smallpox. He's amassed large, clandestine stockpiles of chemical weapons, including VX, Sarin and mustard gas." -- Don Rumsfeld, 9/19/02

quote:

"Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction. There is no doubt that he is amassing them to use against our friends, against our allies, and against us." -- Vice President Cheney, 8/26/02

quote:

"The Iraqi regime possesses biological and chemical weapons. And according to the British government, the Iraqi regime could launch a biological or chemical attack in as little as 45 minutes." -- President Bush, 9/26/02

"We didn't know for sure where his nuclear program stood, but we estimated that it would take anywhere from one to several years to produce weapons."

quote:

"We believe Saddam has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons." -- Vice President Cheney, 3/16/03.

She's a lying sack of shit, and she didn't "school" anyone. But the same people who were stupid enough to believe this bullshit 8 years ago, or amoral enough not to care that  it was bullshit, haven't gotten any smarter or any more honest. And they'll undoubtedly continue to crow about what a hero this lying little whore is. There's no point in even arguing with them; they were incapable of hearing the truth 8 years ago, they're no more capable of it today.

No doubt if I had supported this fiasco I wouldn't want to fess up to the failure it is either.  I would be trying to convince people we need the "long view".

It was built on lies and the people who perpetrated the lies are still trying to sell it.

It was a waste of time, resources, and above all a tragic waste of so many lives.

You speak of success or failure, but say nothing of the right or wrong. How long did you say it would take to determine that, or are we already past the point where it matters?

lickenforyou -> RE: Condi Rice Schools Katie Couric On Iraq (12/15/2010 1:32:59 AM)

I don't see where the "schooling" was. Couric asked her questions and Rice gave her opinions. Whether you agree with Rice or think she was spinning is a matter of opinion. But, the fact that you think this was a schooling because in contrast Sarah Palin couldn't think of what newspapers and magazines she reads is hilarious. Conservatives are still upset because Couric had the gall to ask her how she stays informed.

Instead maybe you should admit that you've made a mistake, Palin is a fucking idiot, and now you want to run someone with intelligence.

Charles6682 -> RE: Condi Rice Schools Katie Couric On Iraq (12/15/2010 3:22:13 AM)

Maybe Condi Rice should run for President. She is beautiful and intelligent. Why not let her run?She would be the best the GOP has to beat Obama.

Nice backtracking again Firm, rather me with my head in the sand than you with yours up your arse.

Lets say this again, loud and clear. BUSH and BLAIR have both agreed the intel was faulty. Worse still, it transpires intel experts told them as much PRIOR to the invasion. Hows the haymaking going ?

You mean like Fox of course which predetermines all debates with their hired nobodies. Oh, and Rice is full of shit like a Christmas turkey.

The debate here is specious. Going to Iraq at all in any way whatsoever is just the thing the repubs castigated the bleeding heart liberals for, who wanted to fix the world's problems with 'nation building.' The whole Iraqi debacle is one large right wing hypocrisy from day one whether or not they had weapons of destruction.

N. Korea, Iran among others have had and still have WMD's yet we don't go there. Saddam was an evil meglomaniac and there are others yet we don't go there either.

This all about war for profits and oil to install an American military presence there...forever. Same for Afghan...pipeline for Caspian oil and gas. Get over it kinkroids, the neocons have succeeded in changing American foreign policy now ideologically behind a consolidated western effort to sustain wars, oil and profits.

Nosathro -> RE: Condi Rice Schools Katie Couric On Iraq (12/15/2010 10:11:07 AM)

This is the same BS she always uses when she is confronted about war and way Bush started.
