It really is time to get the American debt under control. The Dept Commission offer's a real bipartsianship answer on how to lower our debt.Reality is,we need raise revenue and cut government spending.Force those who are going to be in office to support this commission. It's too bad the Commission could't get the 14 out of 18 vote's to pass this on to congress.Either way,Congress and Obama should make the tough choice's that are needed to make sure our country dosen't go bankrupt.

If they reject the tax cuts for millionaires/billionaires the choices would not be so difficult. Taxing Chinese imports would help as well. It looks like George Carlin was right they are going to go after people's Social Security and Medicare.

I think that the overall concencess was that since a republican was involved it must be tainted.  I don't agree but that is what I got out of it before

Lot of the deficit commission proposals make sense, especially from the corporate interest side.  They will strengthen corrupt corporate police state and prolong its lifetime.  It has been already shown by the economists that the plan as proposed  do not lead to a significant economic growth and job creation. The economy needs different type of structural reform.  Historically, I do not know an example of corrupt system self-reform.

Maybe we could hand them a jar of vaseline, and ask them not to fuck us too hard.

Reject the extension of the Bush tax cuts for those earning less than 250k and the choices would even be easier.

Correct. It is those people that represent most of the demand for goods and services...everybody else is already almost broke. Give it time kinkroids, soon all but a few thousand...will be completely broke.

See how good the free market/capitalism [sic] works ?

Why is it important that we get our debt under control.

I doubt either party will have the guts to cut spending and raise taxes (once the economy is healthy enough to support it), unless they're forced to.

Well, eventually people won't want to loan us any more money, and then we'll be fucked. Greece and a few other countries have had to get bailouts recently from the IMF, and are being forced to balance their budgets (cutting benefits/pay and raising taxes during a recession, ouch) as a condition of the bailout.
