I thought this was interesting.   It has lots of potential offshoots

Roe v Wade
Church v State
Healthcare

Have fun   hope you have lots of good comments for me to think about.

This is why I avoid any hospital with Catholic in the name. I want the best available care not care as decided by the dogma of some cult.

Yeah really... just out of curiosity, how many times have you been pregnant?

Do you think that is the only kind of care they compromise?

So, let me see if I understand. The bishop demanded that the woman would be left to a painful death and the fetus wouldn't have survived either.

Sounds like a good christian to me.

From the thread heading, I was hoping this would be about the wrestling match: The Bishop vs The Hospital...

So many mistake sarcasm for intelligence....
As an ardent anti-abortionost I have idly wondered when the Catholic Church would insist on a seat in the debate.

What is to prevent the Pope from a statement that ploiticians voting against restrictions on abortions are subject to excommunication?  Judges? (There are currently no Protestants on SCOTUS) Answer: nothing. Afaik, the Pope answers only to God, even though he lacks divisions

We just had a thread on something like "what they are versus how they vote"? It could indeed be interesting.

It would simply result in a schism. Which is why the pope hasn't tried such a thing.

can't schisms be cured with antibiotics, or are they resistant now?

So, you would rather see the mother AND the fetus both die?

Yep. That's what the Pope wants, and he's infallible, so it must be the right decision.

He isn't going to do it cause he can't afford to piss off the cash cow of American Catholicism. He certainly can't afford the upkeep on this villas if he is going to rely on Euro Catholics for his money....
