The typically-misnomered DREAM Act has failed to pass a cloture vote, 55-41. To me that means this nightmare is dead: the incoming R-led House will never even bring it up but will instead focus on something NancyFran and crew have not even attempted to do: pass a budget and appropriation bills within the time frame set by law. On a side note, I wonder if those who didn't vote took their cue from all the "Present" votes of 0bama0?

I think it would be fun if Congress investigated and held Justice and homeland security responsible for illegal immigration policies in this country

Ted Kennedy 1986 We need to make a rule or law that there can never again be any type of "amnesty" bill in the congress. We need to go in the opposite direction and start vigoursley enforcing our immigration laws. It should be a felony to be in the U.S. illegally.

Rml, this isn't a leftist, rightist, liberal, conservative issue it's a* law enforcement issue* and the federal government has been totally derelict in it's duties in this area.

The Dream Act has nothing to do with those duties. We have children who were brought into this country by their parents. They did not make the decision to be here. For many of them, who were brought here as infants, toddlers, or young children, this is the only life they know. Their parents' birthplaces are foreign to them. I don't see the opposition to this. They are required to either attend college or enter the military for a minimum of two years. If they are willing to put forth that effort to become citizens I don't see the problem.

I do agree,our immigration law's do need to be enforced.I do support LEGAL immigration.Illegal immigration I do not support.I say this because we can't let people break our law's.Can you imagine if you try sneaking into someone else's country?However,our immigration law's do need to change.I don't think we should be punishing those whose parent's broke the law.If they are willing to join the military and die for this country,then I believe they deserve the right to be called an American.

I'm not going to hold a young child accountable because their parent's decided to break the law,period.If you really want our border's defended,then how about we seal up our border with Canada.O wait,they look like us,they don't count.

Please. I'm sick of this bullshit argument. The reason that we don't close the Canadian border is because Canadians spend like us. If you switched all the attributes of Mexico (poverty, gangs, drugs) with all the attributes of Canada (stable socialized democracy) but left the skin colors alone I'm pretty sure the fence talk would be about the northern border instead of the southern. Canadians crossing the border looking for better work are stereotypically businessmen, actors, and doctors. The argument in favor of Mexican illegal immigrants is "they do work Americans won't do" but it's not a great selling point to say that all you're capable of is unskilled menial labor.

I was born near the Canadian border.I know it is stable up there.I wouldn't want to see the Canadian border shut down.I'm not worried about Canadian's.However,there's no secret that terrorist have gone through the USA/Canadian border with all kind's of crap.Don't tell me we shouldn't take our eye off the Northern border. I don't care how any of you want to sugarcoat racial profiling and justify it by saying it's "only because we want our law's enforced".B.S.it's racial profiling at it's finest.No one's in a rush to rid our nation of other illegal immigrant's in our country.Yet,those evil Mexican's are the only one's who get mentioned all the time. I want to get rid of the violent offender's,rapist's,sex offender's out of this country first.All this focus on Hose Jose picking berrie's is taking the focus off the real gang banger's who are crossing our border doing horrible thing's.Yea,get rid of the gang's,the drugdealer's first.I don't care about some kid who want's to go to college or join our Armed Force's. We all know exactly what this is truly all about.It's about racist biggot's who don't want to lose their "White" America.That's the real issue at hand.Go take your white sheet's and shove them where the sun dosen't shine.

Send more troop's to our Southern border,fine.I know what's going on in Mexican/American border.It's getting as bad as Irag or Afganistan at this point.I don't want that trash spilling on this side of the border.However,put this in a bigger context.The stupid war on drug's has fueled drug dealer's getting rich off of American's bad habit's.Alot of the gun's they are using are coming from this side of the border.It's more than just stopping Jose picking berrie's in the field to stop these insane battle.Put more troop's on the border,get rid of the scum who are coming over here and killing innocent live's.Maybe do the fence.However,don't beat up the kid's who were brought over here by their parent's because you think all they do is leech off of our tax money.If they go to college or join the force's,they are being productive member's of our society.What's wrong with keeping the college grad's?maybe they will get a good paying job and pay taxe's.If they are willing to die for this country,then they deserve to be an American.
