Well, they do know now! We're just entering our second 'big snow' of the month.

But with regards to the article, I don't know about the science/opinion behind the article, but I do know the author. And he's a feckin' idiot.

We had a very heavy snowfall this time last year and once again we are up to our knees in snow. The ocean here has frozen two days in a row and when you dare to venture outside, your nostrils instantly freeze.

So climate change isn't occurring because somebody wrongly said snow would be a thing of the past back in 2000? Is this your insinuation I wonder?

I quite like the snow, it's a change and going up or down hill in your car is always fun.

Please I'd love a two hour lecture, will it be a copy and paste jobby?

No, I don't think that's what he's saying, SL4. Because dumbasses made 'sky is falling" predictions like this crock of shit though, the credibility of the skeptics is much enhanced.

Were they deliberately lying when they said such things, do you think, or were they just stupid wrong? Which of those options do you find causes you more cognitive dissonance?

Not only that but in 1974 we were warmed of an imminent ice age.

That's exactly what he is saying however the report itself contains a broader range of input than that of climatologists alone.

We've had snow for two years in a row here, it's no huge change to an overall trend in milder winters. This is also ignoring the fact that nobody has ever claimed that local variations give any indication of global trends. The reality is that winters in the UK will most likely get colder due to the slowing down of the transatlantic conveyor belt, from what I've previously read.
quote:

Heavy snow will return occasionally, says Dr Viner, but when it does we will be unprepared. "We're really going to get caught out. Snow will probably cause chaos in 20 years time," he said.

Prophetic. This is exactly what is occurring, the LA's are saying they can't invest because they are not sure if it will be worth it.

However go ahead and pick out the contradictions you think build your case.

That is sorta sexy- that SL would like my 2 hour Goldman Sachs lecture.   ;-)

Right now- tho - even I am sick of reviewing it.

Ah the denial option. I'd think that with your marvel of socialized medicine, therapy might be less cost prohibitive.

You are living the denial option It involves thinking endless amounts of co2 will not change the atmospheric properties of the planet.

Are you really going to base your knowledge on comments made in the press? As for socialised medicine I doubt you know the first thing about that either considering the tone of public debate you've had there in the US. It's not your fault, you don't stand a chance at realising the truth (I should accept that).

The simple fact is that the climatologists never predicted a complete end to winter weather anywhere. What is predicted in the short term is more chaotic weather across the globe, exactly like unusually snowy winters in places used to mild dry winters and drought conditions across broad areas (last summer in Russia for instance).

Oh cut the bullshit lies, SL4. I get enough of that nonsense from Ken (who I think I'm just going to scroll right past on this thread).

Go find where I've ever said any such thing. Or maybe just go find yourself a nice snowball fight.

You can't bring yourself to deny the irrefutable science but you can't bring yourself to acknowledge that same science is likely correct. Watching you squirm on this subject is always good for some yucks.
