ShaharThorne -> ARGH!!! Not again! (12/20/2010 11:14:06 AM)

I am down to giving Lizard some money to getting her room clean because I cannot see the floor (I admit that I am a slob, but this is ridiculous).  My problem is only a few shoes while her room is drawers open, everything on the floor, dishes and so forth.

Am I allow to pull my hair on this (I prefer someone else to pull my hair, but that is for play...)

SorceressJ -> RE: ARGH!!! Not again! (12/20/2010 11:19:59 AM)

May I suggest standing in her doorway with a flamethrower?
(I have recently found the instructions online to make one. It's small and relatively simple, like a potato gun, and can be constructed out of a few cheap parts from Wally World..)  [:D]

I have thought about a nuclear device since it was a tornado that created this (I use to sing Texas Tornado to get her to sleep).

Take the bed out of the room, put it in the basement (disassembled of course). Tell her if she wants to have it back she needs to clean the room! You'd be surprised how fast the attitude can change.

ShaharThorne -> RE: ARGH!!! Not again! (12/20/2010 11:37:15 AM)

She only has the mattress on the floor and no basement here, just a four-plex.

Only if I had the keys to the 2 bottom units...

I am going to talk with her father about getting a full frame and a daybed frame for the living room (and trash the futon).

subinlife -> RE: ARGH!!! Not again! (12/20/2010 11:45:19 AM)

Never thought of the bed removal when mine was young.
Take all things that are fun and let her re-own then by cleaning and keeping clean.

How old is she if I may ask?
Does she have a cell phone? Try taking it away if so.

Trying to remember what I did to mine to get him to clean the disaster area. lol

Good luck and you have my sympathies.

Happy Holidays

15 going on 25 or 30.

She is a bit mouthy but then we are mouthy around here.

Sorry, was watching the antics of a squirrel...LOL!

subinlife -> RE: ARGH!!! Not again! (12/20/2010 12:01:25 PM)

Aahh, mine started at 13 I think lol, with the room thing.

If I think of anything else I will let you know, will also ask said child when I talk to him.

Good Luck

Is the damage contained to just one room?

Phoenixpower -> RE: ARGH!!! Not again! (12/20/2010 12:13:21 PM)

you are giving lizard money to clean her room? [&:]

pahunkboy -> RE: ARGH!!! Not again! (12/20/2010 12:21:02 PM)

Just kill all the rats- shut the door and call it a day.

She is how she is.    She might change her tune- tho when a rat tries to nibble her mouth when she is asleep.   Happens all the time...

windchymes -> RE: ARGH!!! Not again! (12/20/2010 12:25:49 PM)

Wow, you can get money for not cleaning your room??? My parents just kicked my ass when I didn't clean mine....[8|]

ShaharThorne -> RE: ARGH!!! Not again! (12/20/2010 12:40:10 PM)

I figure a maid gets $10 per hour cleaning.  She could be done within an hour.  The way I got an allowance was to be on the honor role when I was in high school

I would do it myself but I am working on a Christmas present for a neighbor.

pahunkboy -> RE: ARGH!!! Not again! (12/20/2010 12:46:50 PM)

pay her to clean her room.  Then change the fridge into a vending machine.

HA

ShaharThorne -> RE: ARGH!!! Not again! (12/20/2010 12:53:41 PM)

I am not giving her my yogurt!  She has a pint of ice cream in the freezer (that I had to replace since I did her old pint up...)

She is over at her BF's house right now.

Back to the present...this is cutting it close (but then I get money for my work...LOL).

ShaharThorne -> RE: ARGH!!! Not again! (12/20/2010 3:25:47 PM)

ARGH!!! again...

I cannot balance my checking account worth a flip.

DesFIP -> RE: ARGH!!! Not again! (12/20/2010 3:30:40 PM)

Has she been taught how to do it, or does she look at it and become overwhelmed?

With my daughter, I used to sit on the bed and talk her through it:
Put all the dirty clothes you can see in the hamper.
Fold the clean clothes and put them into the drawers.
Put the books back on the shelf.
And so on, one category at a time. Break it down into manageable parts. I know she has some issues and Bo won't allow her to be tested, so instead of assuming she knows how and won't, assume she doesn't know how to do it and teach her.

The other thing is to have a bag there for clothes she no longer wears that are cluttering up the drawers and closets. Boxes for books she doesn't want.

I agree with this.

I have to do this with the other half.  Telling him that the house needs cleaned up gets me nowhere.  He freezes up like a dog in the headlights.

The house cleaning or chore arguements were cleared up by leaving him a list.

It is just the way that some people work.

ShaharThorne -> RE: ARGH!!! Not again! (12/20/2010 3:49:47 PM)

I admit that I am a wimp when it comes to her.  Instead of a game that she wants, I just give her a gift card...simple, done, don't ask me to clean your room...I want to get this sucker clean (I hope the rats don't come back).

Try dealing with a teenager with mood disorders...not a pretty sight...I want a trans in case she gets rabies..

soul2share -> RE: ARGH!!! Not again! (12/20/2010 3:52:31 PM)

Does her room have a door?  Close it......problem solved!  Just kidding......some!

Nope, no ideas here either......Celeste's idea doesn't sound too bad.

I always looked at my son's room as his space....if he could live in the filth, then I didn't ride him on it.  Sooner or later, he'd get tired of it and clean it up on his own......I just kept the door closed.  But he wasn't allowed to eat in his room, mainly because of hte dirty dish/bugs issue.  He was also responsible for getting his clothes to a hamper for laundry...I never knew what was clean or dirty....if/when he ran out of clothes, he did his own wash or put the clothes in the hamper.
