Just a curiosity on my part:

How do you use collarme?  Is it a tool to meet people?  Do you primarily look for discussion in the forums?  Do you use it to keep in contact with others?

Thanks!

Right now,I'm not really interested in dating, etc..........my ideal situation is going to require a few years of work ,and a lot of time and energy to put together. I know better than to expect instant gratification.

Anything casual would distract from that-and I can take work breaks here to relax. I enjoy the diversity here-a lot of what I read really helps flesh out things in my mind-that I will no doubt find to be of use, down the road.

Mostly, i'm here to find interesting Discussions.  i'm always interested to see what others have to say about common and uncommon topics.

I'm here for the forums. Mostly to read, sometimes to post, occasionally to converse with other posters through email. [:)]

For the most part, I use it as a tool to be able to interact in discussions with a larger volume of people than I can typically enter into conversation with on a face-to-face basis (including people from locations and cultures far different from my own).

Secondarily, we've put ourselves out there for individuals who might be interested in what we have to offer to see us and have the opportunity to explore with us, provided that everyone is in agreement on terms.

The second use is definitely the less-compelling of the two for us, but we've had the opportunity to meet some truly wonderful people through the medium, and to spend time and work with some truly amazing and wonderful servants.

I use it in several ways.

I use it to meet people, but I've found that rarely pans out unless it's someone who is local. I have yet to actually form a deep enough interest in someone more than 2 - 3 hours away that the trip for either of us would be worth it. For local folks though, it's been a great way of "finding each other" when our paths wouldn't have crossed otherwise.

I use it for the forums. I love learning. I don't much get into the threads that turn into jibber-jabber or spats. I lose interest in those fairly quickly. I can often be found lurking in forums that don't directly apply to me (like the Master forum or Gorean forum), because I can learn a great deal in those places. I like the controversial threads because I can see opposing viewpoints and sometimes learn from that. If I didn't have an unsatiable thirst for knowledge, I probably wouldn't hang out here so much.

I also like playing pac-man. And collarme has free pac-man.

I'm not "here" as much as it appears though. I'll pull up the collarme site and it often will just sit there while I go out for dinner or something.

I like the forums, listening to others points seeing or learning things I didnt know. Hearing on things that although might not interest Me today- might like tommorow. I first came here becuase My wife had an account here, I came and seen they had games, (I prefer space invaders over pac man) then started to read the forums. I wanted to make a comment on one and seen it was easier to do if I had a profile and My own account. Now I will go into a chatroom, though not that often. I browse the profiles, some make Me think, some laugh. Never know what you are going see. ~BK~

Mainly I enjoy it for the discussion forums and sometimes the chat room.  I very much enjoy good conversation, exchanging ideas, and learning.  Occasionally I will meet someone on here I would like to get to know better as a friend and sometime I meet someone I would be interested in a relationship with.  But I know most of the people I meet here I will never meet in real life and I don't have any particular expectations about that.  Over the last 6 months or so I've gotten a lot of invitations to various munch groups and clubs, some of which I may attend in soon when time permits.  Its been awhile since I attended munches, figured I'd give it a try again an see how it goes.  Those I really want to keep in contact with I give my regular email too, as well as my Yahoo ID and in some cases my phone number.

The reason I first came to Collarme was to meet someone for a life long relationship, but, soon discovered that was not going to happen.  Then, I discovered the forums.  It has supplied me with a wealth of information, some used, some not....And, I have made a few good friends.

I use it for the forums, I've really enjoyed interacting in this medium from the viewpoint of interest in other peoples perspectives and experiences and also its a way for me to communicate with Master, he is deaf, so my participation in forums allows him to *hear* me in conversation with others.

mathiasdomm -> RE: How do you use collarme? (4/30/2006 3:15:10 PM)

I came here to find a partner.  So far, that's been a mixed bag.  Lots of nice people and conversations, but nothing real has panned out yet.

But I keep coming back for the forums.  It's a great place to learn and think.  I've had so many questions answered here.  Lots of good minds floating around here.  Lots of similar senses of humor.

And they have free Tetris.  That's a big plus.

All you can say is that it hasn't happened yet.  Now, I'm a big supporter of offline groups and events as ways of meeting people, but folks do meet online as well and do form lasting relationships.

Libby wrote me over 13 years ago when we were both on the Prodigy system.  We fully expect to spend the rest of our lives together.

OnyxGoddess -> RE: How do you use collarme? (4/30/2006 3:18:44 PM)

Well...I came here for comaraderie-distance or local and self education so I could grow as a domme.  Have met some really cool enlightening supportive folk.  I also like the message boards.

misfire -> RE: How do you use collarme? (4/30/2006 3:21:11 PM)

I'm here to watch, to read, to learn.  Occasionally, when someone hasn't expressed what I wanted to, I'll jump in and post.  Meeting people just seems to happen by accident.  ;)

All the above. Some of those that I would actually call friends are on the other side of the pond so email helps.

i simply believe that the more people one exposes themselves to (not literally... unless you're into that.. i kind of am [;)]  )  the  more the odds are increased  for meeting quality people for all manner of relationships.  Although...this also increases the odds of  drawing attn from people we might not want to meet...but hey....nothing ventured....nothing gained...
